The third and final volume of Freeride Millenium's forward-thinking IMPACT series arrives on February 25th. It is packed with left-of-centre electronic sounds from Rotciv, Chinaski, Matisa, Zombies in Miami and Nikkname.
The idea behind the Impact collection is to highlight the dance floor's importance as a place for creative thinking, sexual liberation and multicultural amplification. This was brought into sharp relief during lockdown when label boss Jorkes and Lisa Jäger had to cancel their HOT all-gender sauna parties in Vienna. It left them and their community with nowhere to go and gave rise to ‘Impact’, as well as discussions at the WAF Galerie that Lisa co-curates. Each volume has come in tandem with its own talk with subjects including 'clubs as places for freedom and emancipation.'
This final volume opens up with Rotciv. He is well known to heady crowds at places like Panorama Bar, Robert Johnson and the Cocktail D’Amore parties, and also runs the Mister Mistery label when he blends acid, techno, electro and disco. 'Dirty Coast' is a rugged and twisted dark disco stomper with flashes of synth, gurgling bass and trippy electronics. Stefan Haag aka Chinaski aka S-F-X is a sound and visual artist, a resident at Robert Johnson and a regular on the Frankfurt club's own imprint. His excellent 'Power, Flower, Violence and Shower' shoots for the stars with its cosmic synth rays, colourful disco arps and elastic bass ensuring you move every bone in your body. Born in Rome, now based in Florence, Matisa has long been attuned to the intersection of music and style and has shown it in her music on labels like Optimo Music, Biologic Records and Butter Sessions. Her 'Supernova' is a supersized track with big piano chords, techno drums and chopped-up vocals all bringing the party. Mexico's Zombies In Miami are label regulars and live artists with a dark and alluring club sound. With 'One More Time' they take the dance floor on a widescreen trip to the cosmos with rugged basslines, chattery claps uplifting old-school chords. Last of all comes another friend of the label in Vienna-based Greek artist Nikkname who alongside label boss Jorkes has released on Curses’ Ombra INTL label. His nine-minute futuristic masterclass 'Seeing Morphs' layers up serene chords and smooth grooves that are ripe for introspection as well as heads-down dancing. 
This fantastic final instalment completes the vital Impact series in style and once again comes with artwork from Daniel Rajcsany.

Roam Recordings kicks off 2022 with up and coming Canadian artist RJ Maxwell who brings forth two original electronic dance floor movers. The title track - Motherboard - is a driving energetic offering with melodic electronic underpinnings. The second original - Activate - is an upbeat chugger with a playful vocal. The EP is backed with three diverse remixes. The first is from Wonder Stories boss AIMES who infuses dark psychedelic energy into a shimmering remix of the original title track. For the second remix Canadian cohorts jON2 join in with a gorgeous low slung version of Motherboard. Rounding it out is Roam’s own Jason Peters who edges Activate into cosmic breaks territory.

The label's second release is a mini-album by a talented musician and DJ from Odesa (Ukraine) – Itwo5. The album consists of 3 original tracks, and in addition to them 4 rather contrasting remixes from our great and very famous friends: Frolov (Ukraine), Colossio (Mexico), ID_UA (Ukraine) and Leonor (Mexico).

Wilds EP is a story about exploring new places and getting new experiences. About how difficult it may seem to become a part of another world that suddenly opens up for you and is ready to share the most intimate. This is my rhythm, this is how I got into slow music. This is a jungle with its own rules and "tribes" that do not like strangers. As a result, this place and people share all their knowledge with you, show their different sides and invite you to become a part of it.


In the Wilds track (thickets, wild places) - we get acquainted with the area, with the evening flora and fauna, we have the feeling that we are being watched. Halt, through a dream, somewhere in the distance, strange songs are heard that pull deep into these places to see what is happening there. Morning comes, and all the way to these sounds seemed to be a dream. In the morning, without leaving the thought that the dream was too obvious, we set off along a clearly trodden road, even the tracks are similar.

The further the road goes inland, the more clearly voices and instruments, laughter and loud conversations become audible - on this day there were big celebrations on the occasion of the summer - Solstice.
We are noticed, and without further ado with smiles are invited to the epicenter of events. The celebrations are bright, some people are in the river running nearby, there is a lot of fire, eccentric masks, rituals and worship of the Sun, which is about to go beyond the horizon.

With the sound of the first horn, attention shifts to the moon - Lunar, a big fire lights up, the dances become more intense, sometimes even creepy. Everything, like one big gear, circles around the fire, there are fewer songs, all this continues until late at night. In the morning we wake up from the noise of children, the fire is still smoldering in the center. The realization comes that you are not a stranger here, and you have always been a part of this.

Jacob Groening returns to his record label Kamai Music with two enchanting organic house tracks alongside remixes by Xique-Xique and Kermesse.

Known for having a style that blends deep atmosphere with captivating melodies and flowing percussion, Jacob Groening is a talented producer who has featured tracks and remixes on other imprints including Bar 25 Music, The Gardens of Babylon, and 3000 Grad Records.

Based in Berlin, Jacob Groening is a veteran of the German club scene who has also travelled the globe to play headline DJ sets everywhere from India to Brazil.

On remix duties, Xique-Xique is a downtempo and trippy artist known for his release on labels such as Stil Vor Talent and The Magic Movement.

The other remix comes from Kermesse who are an Argentinian duo from Buenos Aires whose eloquent style of organic house can be found on the likes of Sol Selectas, Bar 25 and LNDKHN.

“Neko” opens the release with its japanese vocals from berlin based Artist Kotoe. Added by gamelan-style melodies fused with shuffling percussion and a fluttering bassline. It’s a sensual track that builds tantalising suspense as it unfolds with intricate attention to detail.

Xique-Xique’s remix of Neko adds in a new progressive bassline which is rich in subfrequencies that fill the track with a radiating warmth. His rework maintains many of the original’s key elements while adding pads and other synths to make a more melodic version.

“Suingu” is the second of the two originals and it’s got psychedelic atmosphere layered with acoustic guitar chords and sequenced organic percussion. It’s a stripped-back track that gives each part room to breathe while also ensuring the drums maintain a dance floor friendly energy.

Kermesse close out the release with their remix of “Suingu” which adds a jovial funk with chopped-up sections of the original parts reformed into a jazz-inspired rework. Vibrant and full of personality, it’s a charismatic version that is truly mesmerising.
