Berlin-based italo-disco record label Slow Motion mark their return with the full-length release 'Cafe Futuro', the sophomore album from label boss Franz Scala...Our pick is the fifth track ‘Saxon Rebel’ - a sleek, hyper stylised descent into the nocturnal undercurrents of Northern Germany. Co-produced by Local Suicide, the track operates at a steady 120 BPM, maintaining an unflinching tension without ever rushing. Acid-washed synth lines snake through layers of gleaming new beat arpeggios, while Vamparela’s Greek spoken-word passages lend an air of ritualistic mystique. Franz Scala - Saxon Rebel (Feat. Local Suicide) [Slow Motion]

The prolific Mexican label Duro kicks off the second half of the year with an explosion of rhythm and movement courtesy of the duo Factory Setup. Their highly anticipated EP Afrikka lands on June 27, 2025, offering a deep dive into hypnotic grooves and infectious percussion.

Factory Setup is the joint project of Joseeph and Zhino, both residents of Guadalajara’s iconic Bar Américas. Their sound draws from late '80s, '90s, and early 2000s gems, reimagined with a modern pulse. Afrikka is their ode to the energetic exchange between Latin and African rhythms.

The journey opens with Afrikka (Original Mix), where stripped-back percussion and haunting vocals set a primal tone. Flow First (Original Mix) follows with a heady, piano-free hypnotism, locking into a groove that pulls you deeper.

Hardvard Bass steps in for a charged rework of Flow First, adding booming drums and warped synths. The remix ups the tension with a tech house flair, ready to peak the night’s intensity.

Afrikka (Stab Mix) turns up the heat with a driving Latin house feel. Psychedelic vocals swirl around tribal percussion and a relentless stab pattern that demands motion. The closing cut Flow First (Piano Mix) brings warmth and uplift, with melodic keys layered over rolling drums and ethereal vocals.

Factory Setup’s Afrikka is a percussive celebration of movement, crafted for dancefloors and deep listening alike.

Emerging from the foggy thresholds between Lille and Berlin via LBJ Records, ‘Spookie’ marks a nocturnal alliance between French duo You Man and the restless dark disco outfit Local Suicide...With a heavy-footed kick and a convoy of metallic synth layers, ‘Spookie’ opens like an engine coughing to life beneath dim-lit lights. As the momentum thickens, the track shifts into a slow-motion cyclone of haunted vocal loops, operated by Vamparela’s spectral intuition. By the midpoint, the mood subtly morphs into quasi-Eurohouse chords beaming through the haze like the first hint of sunrise.

Roam Recordings label head Jason Peters returns with his latest single, We Used to Watch the Sunrise — a nostalgic and emotionally charged track blending warm electronic melodies, acid-tinged rhythms, and an arpeggiated bassline. Anchored by Jason Peters’ own vocals, the song plays like a modern rave ballad, echoing the sentiment: "I remember when we used to watch the sunrise."

The release is rounded out by two standout remixes that complement the original while offering distinct perspectives. Longtime Roam collaborator Fabrizio Mammarella delivers a high-energy rework, amplifying the track with vibrant synth work and reshaping it into a focused, dancefloor-ready jam. On the flip side, Neu-Romancer & Radondo slow things down with a lush, mid-tempo interpretation. Their remix leans into moody 80s nostalgia, infusing the track with a goth-tinged, neo-new wave aesthetic.

PREMIERE - Poison Gauchiste -  L'amour, la danse, la revolution (Paradise Children Records)

Hot on the heels of the acclaimed Tears Maker Chant 12” LP, illustrious French Electronic duo Froid Dub are back on Ransom Note Records with an interstellar remix package. Featuring the inimitable talents of Richard Fearless, Lena Willikens, Rug Dug, Tia Cousins, Zillas On Acid, Tolouse Low Tax, Timothy Clerkin and Vacant Heads, there is a little something special for all occasions on this colossal record. Slip into something comfortable and sit back.

Opening proceedings, Mr Richard Fearless starts us off with a bang with his remix of Control. Or, indeed, a warp. Bubbly Dubby bass abound, frenetic, IDM-esque beats skip along underneath the low end pummelling before giving way to luxuriant chord progressions. A perfect balance of light and shade, this is a weapons grade banger.

Next up, Lena Willikens puts her own distinctive imprint on Digital Pond. Upping the bpm and the pressure, this dark, synthy, Lofi safari is an anxiety attack is audio format. But an exceptionally pleasurable one!

Lead single comes from Strange Affair with their mix of Just One. Who are Strange Affair, we hear you ask? They are the exquisite combination of two big hitters, Ruf Dug and Tia Cousins! We’re delighted to introduce their maiden voyage as a production pair, and they make waves here with a frenzied reimagining of the original.

Elsewhere, Philly Chug Champions Zillas On Acid turn On The Nose into a dance floor stomper of epic proportions. Tolouse Low Trax takes on Terri’s Dub, sliding into a pair of laidback slacks and sipping a cocktail on the showery terrace, his insouciant approach will have you dancing in the most relaxed way imaginable.

Timothy Clerkin remixes LP lead track Tears Maker, which in Froid Dub’s very own words is “like been catapulted back to a DJ Alfredo mix at Pacha Club in 92”. Hands in the air! Finally, our old friends Oliver Ho and Christian Donaghey (Autumns) team up as Vacant Heads to undertake Tears Maker too, moulding it into an angular, industrial dirge, brimming with sleaze, distortion and grimy 808s. You have been warned!
