TELEGIMNASTIKA - Komarov (Ivan Starzev Remix)

Oblako Maranta is the collaboration between Radial Gaze and A-Tweed. The duo has already released several tracks in different compilations by Samo Records, Electric  Shapes, Playground Records, as well as their debut EP “Maranta Kicks” on Duro. 
In their new EP “Trance Beckenbauer”, the St-Petersburg-based Radial Gaze and  Rome-based A-Tweed produced 4 original tracks that finely blend the sound of each  artist, where slow tribal techno meets acid weird disco. 

Starting off with the title track “Trance Beckenbauer”, Oblako Maranta brings us through  a cinematic voyage, paced by percussive wonders and catchy bass lines, hypnotizing  the listener from the first kick on. The atmosphere is dark, trippy, beautifully loved in an  analog synth “duvet”. With that feeling of timelessness, “Trance Beckenbauer” sounds  like the perfect fit for the next Blade Runner´ s soundtrack. 

Next on the tracklisting is “Putos Mosquitos”, a tune that gives a feel of crossing a jungle  full of wild life, with weird acid patterns on repeat, groovy percussions, and that sense of  limitless adventure as the track plays on. 

“Congarella di Luna” is a bewitching tune blending a mesmerizing melody with dreamy  pads, finely arranged as the drop brings the energy down before reaching its paroxysm:  an irresistible melodic pattern that will leave no one still on the dancefloor. 
The fourth track “Analog Garbage” ´should bring any human being on the planet to an  ecstatic state as it infuses that energy that makes you move fast and forward, without  looking back. Indeed, “Analog Garbage” is driven by a fat bass riff and a kick-drum that  tirelessly hammers the pace, while acid melodies are raining as the track unfolds. And  there is that drop… 

The EP is completed with first-in-class remixes by Inigo Vontier and Zillas on Acid, who  reworked “Putos Mosquitos” and “Congarella di Luna”, respectively.

We're back with our 8th instalment of the Pals Series, with our merry band of friends, compiling a varied aural pallet of sound and fury, music and noise.

HRDF: Who are you?
P: Music lover. Dj. Producer. Brazilian. Living in France. Always looking for the sun =)

HRDF: How did you discover this track?
P: I heard it in another song also as a sample. It really got me somehow trapped into it, and it makes me want to do my own version. 

HRDF: Why did you choose to edit it?
P: The song chose me. Kidding...hehe. Well, it has been a while that I wanted to do something special to HardFist, it finally matched perfectly with the vibes I wanted to put in this edit. 

HRDF: What are your upcoming plans?
P: Well. Right now I'm touring between Colombia and Ivory Coast, so kind of living the dream of sharing music with people.  Until the end of the year, I still (fortunately) have some gigs.
I'm releasing a 8 tracks EP with two remixes of two of my fav artists at the end of January  for Cracki Records. 
In February/Mars will be doing some release parties in France. I'm really looking forward to it.

Another year has gone by in the blink of an eye and we couldn't be more grateful for all your support, amazing contributions to our podcast series and for the incredibe releases of befriended artists! In order to wrap this year's podcast series up in style, we invited a true gem of Germany's electronic music scene to take over December's episode and provide you with fresh energy to slide into the new year: Sarah Wild.

Once an infamous host for underground raves in Berlin, Sarah Wild is now a DJ and producer talent from Berlin. Her energetic sets oscillate between acid basslines and piano elements. Sarah has already released on Permanent Vacations, Feines Tier and her own label Midnight Operators.

When she was a girl her father took her on tour with his surf-rock band. She grew up hanging out in backstages of clubs and venues all around Europe. Not only through this first touring experience Sarah was always surrounded by music. She learned saxophone and piano supported by her grandmother who is also a singing teacher. All her youth Sarah played in bands and was part of several jazz projects. Also her passion for electronic dance music developed at this time. Sarah was born and raised in Jena, a former east-German city who became popular for its delicate scene of electronic music. She quickly became part of it as a dancer and also started her first little projects as an artist. Sarah Wild started her solo project in 2016 and has been touring in Europe, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala and the USA.

We say thank you to Sarah for this awesome podcast and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. With excitement, we are looking forward to 2024, which will mark the 5th anniversary of our label.

King of Kings EP is a reminiscence of a period (1980 - 1991), prior to the economic liberalization of India. A closed economy with nearly 200% tariffs or outright bans on all foreign electronic equipment’s including synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines and computers due to west’s antagonizing behavior towards India for not opening its market for foreign colonial corporate actors.

This did not deter musicians to get their hands on the machines despite all the stumbling blocks placed in front of them. Defiance and persistence gave birth to Indian acid and electro synth pop created under our own terms becoming not only father of the machines once we couldn’t own but with our playful ragas giving birth to genres such as acid house.

India thus opened another node in the global cultural flows of electronic music. Cumulatively, this period contributed to the triumph of import substitution in cultural production. An attitude was born to why import when we can make it on our own. A major shift in a mind colonised and slaved for 400 yrs.

This an honest attempt to show the world, how Indian musicians undeterred by barriers made their own mark with western synthesizers and drum machines while staying true to their ethnic identity. A period of Computer Love.

“King of Kings” which translates literally from Tamil (Rajadhi Raja) is a true endeavor to demonstrate to the world how Indian musicians have overcome racial and political boundaries to achieve their sonic mission of expressing our artistic autonomy filled with purpose, perseverance and avant-garde excitement. A musical piece that aims to represent the idea, “In order to become who you are, you need to first overcome who it is they said you are”. A true King of Kings.

Remixes come from analogue master and self-proclaimed synth fetishist, Italo Brutalo and multi-cultural musical trifinium thePhilosophica.

PREMIERE: Hybrid Man - Strange Skies [PENUMBRUM]

Since making their debut on Mark Barrott’s acclaimed International Feel label back in 2015, @PrivateAgenda has delivered a handful of releases suitable for sunset and sunrise. Now, the Berlin-based duo has gone one further with a conceptual single for @NuNorthernSoul .

Work on Dusk & Dawn began when the sun began to slip below the horizon, with the duo sat at a Grand Piano. By the time the first rays of morning sunshine began to filter through their studio windows, Private Agenda had written and recorded two nocturnes inspired via this particular magic and mystique of the night. In the process, the pair had produced arguably their most atmospheric songs to date.

As they flung their studio windows wide open and watch the sun slowly rise above the horizon on “Dawn”. With dreamy, Tangerine Dream style synthesizer arpeggios and yawning piano flourishes matching the gentle dancing of light on their studio windows, the pair unfurls a  beautiful song that sits somewhere between loved-up ambient and the more Balearic works of ‘80s pop outfits Simple Minds and Talk Talk. 

Such an inspired track deserves similarly stunning remixes. Thankfully, all three chosen remixers Faze Action, Ron Basejam and Ian Blevins deliver in spades. . 

The latter rounds off the EP, @ianblevins the ESP Institute and Not An Animal regular weighs in with a typically sumptuous and evocative take on the duo’s sunrise tribute. Making full use of Private Agenda’s soothing chords, pianos and vintage synth riffs, he conjures up a hazy and hypnotic rework rich in head-nodding, toe-tapping drum machine beats, mazy electronics and effects-laden vocal snippets.
