Run by the French-Argentinian duo LuLúxpo based in Barcelona since 2017, Paradise Children Records continue their incursion into releasing music that constantly breaks genre barriers. Under the moniker @ravage-sentimental, singer, producer and early 90’s French DJ Miloch ’s sibling Anna Masurel lines up her sultry Finnberget release, comprising two original moody indie dance tracks and two electronica-infused remixes by @c_a_r and @Justine-is-justine.

Title track Finnberget unveils an intimate world outlined by the artist’s soft spoken lyrics. The hypnotic melody perches along a whirlwind bassline, while broody vocals add layers of mystery and magic. Howling takes things up a notch in terms of dance appeal. While keeping the same intimate, low sung atmosphere, its dynamic uplifts and enchants in equal parts. Electronic off-pop producer C.A.R. takes on Finnberget, reconstructing the melody into a provocative and stimulating arrangement. Justine turns Howling into a catchy, club-ready techno charmer, with punchy, dynamic bass dotted by dreamy pad sequences fit for late night adventures.

All in all, a versatile release bringing together beautifully idiosyncratic pieces from a talent-studded all female cast.

Parisian label Meant turns to Hugo Sanchez and Rodion in their Alien Alien guise, a little known side project that has released on their own label RoccoDisco and that has also featured on Get Physical back in 2012.

The two originals from Alien Alien come with remixes by Rodion in solo mode, plus Red Axes.

Alien Alien have in fact found lots of favour with the international queer community thanks to their ‘Sambaca’ tune, released on Berlin’s Slowmotion label, and ‘The Nights’, on San Fran outlet Discaire, both of which came with truly freaky videos.

‘One by One’ is the first track and it is a very poised and well-paced bit of lo-down disco funk. Searching synths spray across the face of the dark, rubbery track as a male vocal repeats the title’s refrain. It’s the sort of slo-mo chugger the ALFOS crews will love and is filled with menace despite being a sparse track overall.

Rodion then goes solo for a remix and in doing so layers in even more unsettling intergalactic synths and curious alien details. The groove, too, is made more rubbery and supple and really sweeps you up.

‘Soter’ then ups the ante a little with an arpeggiated bassline, crystalline synths and all sorts of weird and wonderful voices. It’s deep but direct and has a solid, chunky groove at its somewhat dystopian core.

The Red Axes remix is a more human and soulful affair with hip swinging claps, more arpeggiated lines and something of a classic jack feel to the raw drums.

This is a macho disco-tastic release from Meant that proves Alien Alien have many different sounds.

Imagine that you are at home, just chilling, listening to some cool fresh tunes or having a light hot meal, and suddenly you receive a message from none other than Ali X (SXDNS070), asking if you would be interested in making a remix of one of the tracks of his next EP.

Some would shake in their boots, but not Fausto (SXDNS064). One of the most requested and prolific Mexican artists of the moment, with releases on labels such as Roam, Nein, Phisica and Tom Tom Disco, Fausto provided a powerful interpretation for a powerful track. Backlash, the original, with its industrial-influenced mood, is definitely something, but the remix delivers a compelling insight that drew our attention and became our favourite tune of the next Controlla adventure.

The obscure aura is established from the very beginning with an energetic and dusky bassline. It’s certain that Fausto scrubbed things up a little in comparison to Ali’s original, but the clout and the heaviness are still there, maintained especially by the metallic synth line, sci-fi-movie-like sinister pad and Matrix-inspired FXs.

When you drop this track during a gig of yours, do yourself a favour at let it play until the very end. The climax is reached exactly at the finale. It’s like if Fausto were telling us a story, and he kept the best of it to the eleventh hour.

SHMLSS - Taiko Dreams

London-based producer From Beyond returns to the almighty British label Nein Records with "Neurobeat EP". Having first made its debut via June’s "Techno But Not Techno 2" compilation, the title track’s blend of EBM and Italo Disco now comes complete with brand new B-side "Nine Steps", a biting piece of groove-infused cosmic techno. The mesmerizing bassline and colourful synth layers present themselves as the most stunning elements of the theme.

Early support has already been found among a diverse crowd of revered DJs, from Horse Meat Disco’s Severino to NYC veteran Justin Strauss. The indispensable remixes come courtesy of Nein label-mates Ton Globiter, BT COP and Javier Martinez (SXDNS104). The trio delivered some badass interpretations that helped to keep the high level of the release.

The third release from the growing label @logiarecords brings a very powerful sound.

We’re talking about “Hiperestesia”, @DiazTech’s new EP, with MAN 2.0, Tivi, Renuna y Playa del Karma remixes.

The three originals are loaded with hard techno sounds and almost dramatic melodies. From the U.K. comes MAN 2.0 and his version of “Vorkzak”, giving us his Acid dosis. “Hiperestesia” has two remixes, one by Playa del Karma, dj/producer from Argentina, with his progressive melodies, and the other by Tivi, founder of the mexican label VENENO, little darker and heavier.

The EP is completed by the Argentinian duet Renuna, with a very techno and groovy remix of “Vortex Filament Simulation”.

Paradise Children Records c’est le label des LuLúxpo, le duo de DJ amoureux qui embrase les dancefloors de toute l’Europe depuis plus de 25 ans. Un label qui puise dans le film Les enfants du Paradis dont il tire son nom, la force de l’amour pour affirmer sa liberté. La liberté de danser comme on l’entend face à l’obscurité du monde, la liberté d’aimer toutes les musiques tant qu’elles nous font vibrer, la liberté d’être celles et ceux que nous sommes dans un club comme ailleurs. Des enfants pas sages, des enfants polissons, mais aussi des enfants beaux et libres comme l’est définitivement la musique.
