Clash Lion co-founders Terr and Daniel Watts have been collaborating for more than a decade. Terr can do everything from epic dance floor tunes to romantic breakbeats to fresh electro. She has a fruitful relationship with Phantasy Records as well as having released on Correspondant and Hotflush. Meanwhile, Watts was part of the electro duo Digitaria alongside Terr and is now a solo artist with credits on Permanent Vacation and a desire to push himself into new musical realms. This new track is a result of one of their latest jam sessions, refined in both Barcelona and Berlin. Clash Lion co-founders Terr and Daniel Watts have been collaborating for more than a decade. Terr can do everything from epic dance floor tunes to romantic breakbeats to fresh electro. She has a fruitful relationship with Phantasy Records as well as having released on Correspondant and Hotflush. Meanwhile, Watts was part of the electro duo Digitaria alongside Terr and is now a solo artist with credits on Permanent Vacation and a desire to push himself into new musical realms. This new track is a result of one of their latest jam sessions, refined in both Barcelona and Berlin.

Say the pair, "We love the track's name, 'Bring the Future', meaning that we need the future and we need it now, because the past is not enough anymore, and we need a new way to look and deal with things and people, with more social justice, freedom and love."

The visceral track has a retro-futuristic feel with electro-vintage aesthetics. The bright bassline reverberates beneath crashing drums as twinkling synths shine up top. A vocoder vocal adds that intergalactic feel and once it all drops, the floor is sure to erupt. Hailing from the Latvian capital city of Riga, electronic brothers in arms Queer On Acid have had an impressive ascendency over the last couple of years that has included releases for Josh Wink’s Ovum Recordings and Shadow Child’s Takeout imprint. Their remix is more techno-leaning and punchy, with elastic bass and rubbery kicks leaning into the solar winds and sweeping you off your feet for a perfectly cosmic acid trip. Born and raised in Guadeloupe, second remixer Mala Ika is a French artist and one of the founders of the Media Beweird and Label Weirdos Records. She has a fresh indie dance style that shows in this remix. It is an edgy slice of chunky electroclash with pixelated synths, flashes of acid and twisted vocals all making for an intense dance floor vibe. The final original 'Clairvoyant' pairs stiff synth sequences with slapping hits to jerk you into action. The deep space pads add a grand scale as clattering percussion brings the energy and tension that keeps a crowd locked.

Immediately following the thirsty, fluid rave anthem ‘Only For Tonight’, TERR anticipates an upcoming debut LP on Phantasy with ‘Layers’, out now digitally.

This time drawing influence from the more psychedelic impulse of her artistic palette, TERR herself guides dancers through a spoken-word meditation on the universal challenges of taming one’s inner critic, seamlessly translating the complexities of an interior life into cathartic deep-techno with a smudgy pop edge.

‘States of Mind’ meanwhile embarks into similarly psyche-centric territory, emerging as a visceral acid track designed for the most euphoric moments. Means tested worldwide, including during a recent eight-hour closing set at Panorama Bar, TERR’s natural instinct for melody and melancholy delivers her own secret weapon to prize eyes wide open, with hearts to follow.

The best things come in threes, right? Following her hugely popular ‘Glass Mistress’ and ‘Flashes on The Floor’ releases for the label, Pets Recordings welcome Joyce Muniz back for her third, and possibly finest, outing on the label to date.

With its electro-pop leaning and added dystopian sounds, 'Dressed In Secrets’ is a track that comfortably treads the lines between late night autobahn driving and 4AM strobe lit soundtrack. Its marauding synth tips its hat to disco, whilst the late-coming oscillator adds an industrial touch. Opposing elements that together work beautifully to ensure this will be one of the worst kept secrets of the year.

Joyce delivers a lighter touch on ‘Buzzing’. The ebb and flow of its progressive synths is backed by the buzz of its bass and echoing vocal, together creating a chasmal and measured feel that allows the track to work its magic on the listener.

It’s 2020, the dusty Pets plain spreads out before you. Nothing but sand, cactus plants and a bottle of good old red eye are all you have for company. Then you hear the shots. They’re fired with such flare they can only be from one man… Renato Cohen AKA the ‘Lone Ranger’
He fires in such a way you can’t help but move your feet. Then you move your hips. Then your head. Then your heart. You’re in funky town now and Renato’s the mayor. He leads with the disco bubbles and slinky restrained funk of ‘Lone Ranger’ before moving on to the heavier weaponry; the cowbell riddled, hoover-rattled stomper ‘Deocleciana’ and the bassline-plunging, deep funk hustling swagger of ‘Bismuth’.
And it seems our lonesome techno patrolman isn’t working alone… ‘Bismuth’ is also backed by an incredible remix from Jennifer Cardini. Ramping up the energy with a precision arpeggio bassline and injecting an entirely different sense of uplift with a lavish synth melody, it shoots from the hip in the most euphoric of ways.

Terr is the exciting musical project of Daniela Caldellas, the Berlin-based DJ/producer and label owner, who grew up in Brazil’s Belo Horizonte.

Her music experiences come from a long time - after spending her earlier years playing guitar in several punk bands, she decided to learn the basics of computer music to be able to express more complex ideas - “Electronic music allowed me to bring to life the sounds that I had in my mind,” she says. She became a studio addict, investing in analog synths and effects to work on her sonic experiments. 

Terr was born in 2016 as her first solo project. Its name stems from the 1970’s film “Fantastic Planet”: Terr is the name of the main human character. The debut release, a three-track EP titled Burn the Past, landed on Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings, followed in early 2017 with Misantropicalia — which extended Terr's musical horizons. 2018 saw the release of two solid EP’s on both Permanent Vacation and Correspondant, respectively. 

In 2019 Terr began her fruitful partnership with Phantasy Records - “I have always been a fan of the label and of Erol Alkan. I really like the way the label is focused more on the artistic and experimental side of electronic music. That's the kind of label and philosophy that attracts me and makes me want to work on something." Two EPs were released that year: the acclaimed Tale of Devotion and Energy Sync - which was the soundtrack for Moschino’s Fall Winter 2020 Fashion Show. Now Terr makes a triumphant return to Phantasy with a deeply dreamy new single, Wings of Time, complimented by a momentous remix from Tornado Wallace. 

Caldellas has set up her own label Clash Lion, alongside Shall Ocin and Daniel Watts. The label broke through instantly with the first release seeing Maetrik’s resurgence in a number of years. Since then the label has seen numerous artists pass through the gates including ANNA, Man Power and many more. In 2018 Caldellas released Dust on Clash Lion with remixes from Curses, Cardopusher and fellow label founder Daniel Watts. Throughout her career, Terr also did a bunch of killer remixes for artists like Tiga on Turbo Records, Rüfüs do Sol on Warner Music, and Ora the Molecule on Mute Records, among others. 

At the moment Terr's working on new EPs and an album for 2022 - “I am working on different things at the moment, I think I would be too bored if I had to work on the same style over and over,” she smiles. “I am doing some stuff that’s more "epic" and dance-floor-oriented as well as some romantic breakbeat and reshaped electro. I am really excited with the new stuff.” As for her inspiration, she has a huge myriad of influences: from Grunge to Electroclash through classic Disco, Philip Glass, The Knife, Leonard Cohen, acid house, techno, Brazilian popular music, movies and books - “I believe that ideas are waves of energy flowing through the cosmos and artists are like antennas. I try to keep myself and my senses wide open to welcome them”.
