Premiere: Disco Mortale & Sauvage World - Destroy Inc [Paradiso Records]

Established CDMX artist Theus Mago brings back his post-psychedelic dance sounds to Parisian imprint Lumière Noire Records in the form of his ‘La Cabeza’ EP.

The title cut ‘La Cabeza’ (feat. Mera De La Rosa) is an engaging dancefloor-focused jam built around driving grooves and gritty analogue musicality. The track orbits a catchy vocal topline with modulating pitch and energy unfolding around it to carve out a quirky peak time roller with a subtle carnivalesque feel to its percussive cadence.

‘Taco House Galáctico’ (feat. fellow Mexico City native JNGLEJ) is next up, firing in more chunky grooves and fat low-end charm. Riding a wave of subtly jungle-inspired beats, hypnotic acid lines and ravey synth melodies, rolling around another head-turning vocal hook, it’s the second of three undeniably rambunctious groovers on the EP.

Also featured on the release, Guadalajara’s Mystery Affair delivers an imposing remix of the title cut ’La Cabeza,’ giving it a revamped, pumping underground house persona. Combining rolling harmonies and atmospheric transitions, its progression of high-voltage club-geared energy and mind-bending musical arrangement makes it a certified peak-time weapon.

11th November sees dynamic duo Hiver return to cherished Belgium imprint, Curle Recordings, with their latest EP, entitled ‘Soundescence’.   
 
This excellent four-track offering is the Italian pairing’s third EP on Curle, following on from ‘Blue Aconite’ in 2013 and ‘Same Mistake Twice’ last year, which garnered them support from techno heavyweights such as Sven Väth, Laurent Garnier and Efdemin.
 
Curle, who recently celebrated their 10th anniversary, have fast become one of the most exciting and respected underground labels in the game. Past releases by the likes of Hiver, as well as prolific DJ/producer, Matthew Herbert, whose timeless track ‘See You On Monday’ was recently reissued by them, has contributed towards this success.
 
Kicking off the release is the title-named track, ‘Soundescence’, displaying the melodic, psychedelic sound Hiver has been praised for previously. Delicate synth patterns perfectly bled with the understated drums and percussive elements. This ethereal approach to Techno continues on the following deep-groover, ‘One More Snooze’.
 
The B-side opener, ‘Phonotis’, immediately breaks the silence with a steady 4/4 rhythm, seeing a squelchy synth bassline, warm pads and floating atmospheric textures scattered throughout the six-minute number.
 
Closing the EP is ‘Floor Diving’, which once again showcase Hiver’s sleek and seductive style of dance music that is made for the dark, underground clubs of Europe and beyond.

Sulk Magic (@birdofparadisemusic) welcomes the newest edition to the family in tecwaa. The York based newcomer has come to the fore with unconventional & wistful soundscapes. Three originals bolstered with three remixes by Sulk Magic bastion Force Majeure, Lithuanian hot-shot Urexboyfriend and label linchpin Bird of Paradise.

The title track ‘El Kopan’ demonstrates tecwaa’s gift for the forlorn, warm synths and intricate melodies float over percussion. Whilst @ForceMajeuree creates a Moroder esque interpretation with rhythmic arpeggios and suspense filled guitar lines.
