Alex Aguayo es un productor mexicano que ha experimentado en diversos géneros, desde el slow hasta lo melódico y energético, usando instrumentos orgánicos y de sonido natural. Ha compartido cabina con TYU, Cormac, Rodion, Snowcaveman & Mystery Affair entre otros, y ha tenido lanzamientos en sellos como Nein, Paradiso, Espacio Cielo, Rotten City, etc. Artistas de la talla de Daniel Monaco, Curses, Tronik Youth, Italo Brutalo, Badknife, Teniente Castillo, Mufti, Aimes, Craig Bratley, Young Drums, Velax, Roe Deers, por nombrar algunos, han tocado alguno de sus tracks.

Last EP of the year on Logia Records and none other than Alex Aguayo with “Velocity”: the Mexican producer arrives on the Argentine label with four tracks that make up this EP in which we find his usual sounds of acoustic drums and electric guitars, with Indie Dance sounds in Techno and Progressive mode. “Velocity”, with a remix of acid techno by Celestino, “This is the future”, with a remix by BT COP, a Glasgow-based producer recently released by the label, “Lost & Found”, with a remix by Playa del Karma that brings Dancefloor rhythm to the original track and closing this EP, a collab with the Mexican producer m i l l o, “Broken”, with some post-punk overtones and Dark Disco, remixed in techno mode by Corresponsal.

Alex Aguayo is a Mexican producer who has experimented in various genres, from slow to melodic and energetic, using organic and natural-sounding instruments. He has shared a booth with TYU, Cormac, Rodion, Snowcaveman & Mystery Affair among others, and has had releases on labels such as Nein, Paradiso, Espacio Cielo, Rotten City, etc. Artists of the stature of Daniel Monaco, Curses, Tronik Youth, Italo Brutalo, Badknife, Teniente Castillo, Mufti, Aimes, Craig Bratley, Young Drums, Velax, Roe Deers, to name a few, have played some of his tracks.

And now for something completely different. Making their release debut, Parisian pair ODDiO FACToRY serve up a powerful dose of wonky disco tech goodness for our 42nd Chapter, aided by two reworks from French house legend Franck Roger.

The package opens with a dose of hooky, funky quality in OK Carrol. Referencing the Western shoot out of 1881, this is a killer slow jam which packs a combination of guitars and dark, off kilter grooves.

Title track To Be Or Not To Betty feat. Marteen is a glorious combination of infectious funky guitar licks, soulful vocals and huge bass, all overlaid with bewitching, dark atmospheres.

As founder of the classic imprint Real Tone Records, Franck Roger knows a thing or two about house music. For his Wonky Edition, he takes a deep, rolling and dubby route that keeps things hypnotic, interspersed by an epic and dramatic sub line. This is backed up by a Wonky Dub which is a club tool guaranteed to keep the dancefloor moving in the deepest hours of the night.

All told, ODDiO FACToRY’s To Be Or Not To Betty is a masterfully rounded EP with a deft French touch.

Syrian born and raised duo Boshoco land on Sinchi with a new track that samples the first-ever Arabic Sesame Street, and comes with remixes by Damon Jee and Shubostar.

Once again this is a non-profit release, this time raising money for Syrian NGO Jusoor, which is made up of Syrian expatriates who build bridges between the boundless potential of young Syrians and their opportunities for education, entrepreneurship and global community engagement.

Boshoco's sound is playful, energetic and dark, and recalls nostalgic elements we all have in common. They grew up getting music on bootlegged cassettes and CDs from local musicians in Aleppo and met whilst working in a camp for people displaced from their homes. Together they moved to Turkey and became residents in Temple club in Istanbul and now, given the restrictions of movement on Syrians, they had to split, with half of the pair getting political asylum in France and the other moving to Beirut and continuing to work remotely.

Say the pair of the track, "'Semsem' (like the name Boshoco, a cheap ice cream we both used to eat in Aleppo as children), with the children singing, the heavy baseline, the mystical mezmar solo and the energetic beat, is an homage to the little pretty things that made life sweet in Aleppo and to the heavier emotions that came to it with time." It is a darkly intoxicating tune with a meandering bassline and plenty of exotic instrumentals that transport you to another world.

The third and final package of remixes of Yuksek’s recent ’Nosso Ritmo’ LP on Partyfine arrives with fantastic interpretations from the likes of Rubin Steiner, JKRIV, CLAAP and Mark Lower and more.

Yuksek’s fourth album was another widescreen, multi-genre offering that has already given rise to two great packages including tracks by Kraak & Smaak, BOSQ, Mighty Mouse and Chloé. Now veteran French radio host, bassist Platinum Records associate Rubin Steiner kicks off this last instalment with his super smooth version of ‘Hashram Peplum.’ It’s deep, far sighted and a gentle groove with lush sax drifting up top amongst cosmic melodies.

Label regular and revered melodic maestro You Man flips ‘Cadenza’ into a warm, colourful house track with catchy riffs and long legged drums, while Brooklyn-based artist, multi-instrumentalist and co-head of Razor-N-Tape Records JKRIV brings hip swinging disco bliss to his perfectly loose, organic take on ‘The Only Reason.’ Two more
French legends in The Mekanism and Franck Roger then bring their many years of know how to a vital version of ‘Do Beljo’ that brims with golden chords, old school disco house energy and a certain sense of spiritualism that warms the soul.

Another Partyfine regular is CLAAP!, the one-of-a-kind Frenchman supported by artists such as Todd Edwards, Jenifer Cardini and Erol Alkan. His expansive remix of ‘Bateu’ has intoxicating leads, rugged arps and a tripped out sense of late night colour that is superbly alluring. Closing out this connoisseur EP is French deep house don
Mark Lower who has released on labels like Nurvous. His track has lush jumbled claps, hits, toms and kicks with astral synths, gooey funk bass and a vocal that melts the heart.
