Robi Insinna / @Headman is a Producer, DJ, Visual Artist and INDUSTRIA and RELISH owner. He founded Relish way back in 2001,  in direct response to a then-dominant sound in club music. Its catalogue is as vast as it is varied and foreshadowing the music he'd go on to make himself under Headman/Manhead.  Whilst also was busy remixing the likes of Roxy Music, The Gossip, Franz Ferdinand, The Units, Unknown Cases, Gina X and many more. Relish has also been busy releasing international talents and remixes such as Daniel Avery, Red Axes, Borusiade, Manfredas.

We're long term fans both of his own original works, the label's out put and his edits, We selected this one from his back catalogue to share with you....from 1983, a track that really went under the radar from the Belle Stars.

In his own words...
'I have done this edit in 2016. It is taken from A Relish Edit Sampler album that was just released exclusive via Bandcamp.
The reason why I like this track is, first it’s from an all girl band from the early 80’s. It has that post punk funk vibe about it, that I always liked in dance music.'

HRDF: Who are you ?
K: My name is Khemir, Dj/Producer from Tunisia . 

HRDF: How did you discover this track ?
K: In fact, my dear father showed it to me, he has it on cassette. He has always been a big fan of the 80s Arabic music especially with Funk and Raï music.

HRDF: Why do you choose to edit it?

K: I liked the track, and I decided to make a dancefloor version out of it! It makes my heart melt when I see people from different cultures dancing to forgotten north African gems.

HRDF: What are your upcoming plans?
K: Do it or die trying!

In his words....

“I came across the original record while I was digging for Middle Eastern music. It had this very energetic and sort of heroic vibe to it. There are a lot of emotions going on throughout the whole song. I just couldn’t get enough of it. So I decided to sample the main parts and completely flip it. I wanted to emphasize the energetic part while making it more mysterious. My goal was to turn it into something new rather than just make it dancefloor friendly. The sample was tough but very fun to play with.”

For the latest addition to the Sinchi Edits series, Parisian crew @Disco-Bagarre tackle a lesser known track: "J’ai chaud" ("I am hot"), a french electro-disco song from the singer Sonia released in 1982. As a complete rework of the original, from the production to the vocal, this version slows the pace down, going from disco to dark disco with an ever-present touch of acid.

In his own words...

'1998 Kuwaiti track "El Qalb El Mehtas" by Bashar Sultan is a rare gem in the realm of Arab music. The cleverly-written lyrics that intertwine hilarity and sorrow, paired with a silly 90s video clip that is nothing short of a masterpiece, it gained meme status in the Arab world in recent years. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to elevate it to the dance floor, tapping into its already uplifting energy, breaking it into 4 parts and changing their arrangement slightly, adding a bassline, intro/outro, breaks, and tension with the drums to the delights of the saz, and more of its "vocal hypes" and shouts that come from Arab weddings. At the end of last year with huge success, I debuted my project "Deviousco" at Kabareet Club Haifa with Lau Tropico where we infused cultural music from all over with the invigorating rhythms of Italo, dark disco and others. As a Palestinian, it further fueled my passion for remixing and editing Middle Eastern music and gave birth to this edit. Now, Lets see if it can make you dance as much as it made you laugh.'

' 
"Mesh Bardo" is an original track by Egyptian singer Alaa Salam. I discovered that song while listening to rips of tapes from 90's Egyptian music and I liked the lively melody and soft vocal. I decided to make an edit, sampled its main parts, added some percussion, powerful drums and heavy bass to make the song dance-floor friendly.'

HRDF: Who are you?
D: I am Dacou, a DJ/producer based out of Toronto. 

HRDF: How did you discover this track?
D: I saw a local ad in Toronto for somebody wanting to get rid of some old Arabic cassette tapes, so naturally I was curious. Turns out it was an elderly gentleman who had them, and they had belonged to a lady from Egypt who he was in love with over thirty years ago. Unfortunately things didn’t work out between them and she went back home, leaving their love unfulfilled. He never saw her again and these tapes were all that were left of her, but in his old age he felt it was right to pass them on. This tape was amongst them. 

HRDF: Why do you choose to edit it?
D: After discovering this song and coming to know it was in fact a love song, a declaration of love - I thought it was a fitting ode to the gentleman who had given me the tapes, while serving as modern dance-floor friendly refresher of a great Algerian Raï track. 

HRDF: What are your upcoming plans? 
D: To keep digging for gems and dropping betters!

HRDF: How did you discover the original track? Why did you choose to edit it?

@hanzoandyaman : the story of this edit is very unusual. At the time we started the edit we were living together in Vienna. Yaman discovered the track ''The Groove Is In The Heart'' by Deee-Lite in Hanzo's sample folder. It's such a crazy piece of music that even one short line of the vocals makes you think of several different ways to make something new out of it, which was actually the main motivation to start this project. Then we added some keys on it, which we recorded with an old Casio keyboard from the early 90's which gave the whole sample loop another twist. A big part of the percussions are taken from cooking pots and other gadgets from our kitchen.

Aaro Vahtera aka Aaron Maple is a producer and DJ from Finland. He is a member of a collective and label called Free Shelter focusing on obscure and esoteric music.
Aaron Maple is mostly known for his edit releases with support from world known DJs every corner in the world. He has released music for example via Free Shelter, Dar Disku , Awesome orientalists from Europa and Serenades.

About the edit : " "I first got to know to this song via my friend Markus who introduced the Global Village's album to me. I fell instantly in love with the vocals and percussions of the Robenji Doom Doom track. In my edits there is always a functional reason why I start making one. The original track was too restless for my taste and I decided to make a bit deeper and darker than the original was. 
Vocals and percussion was the core and I made the edit around them. I added new drums and made new baseline and synth melodies. I did a massive restructuring in the song's structure and played with some effects. All the elements clicked together very well and fast I was really happy with the result. The edit works really well in the early hours in the club and also as played a bit faster in the peak time hours. Definitely one of the best edits I have made so far. "
