Conjure the Glow

My paint brush is wielded as so a wand.        
Stirring stagnation to movement, we bond.     
She knew all along that she was the seed:     
The alchemy of staleness to the fullness of deed.     
I summon the colors, they succumb to my will.      
So happy are they for the chance to fulfill!            

By forging my craft, we conjure the glow.            
We paint on the paper and watch the love grow.
The bustle of chroma brightens our sphere,        
Expands our cosmos and abates my fear.           
You see, my brush is a tool of bewitchment.       
She casts her spells with nothing but pigment!  

Asleep or awake, it just matters not.                             
Each state is as real as the seer sees ought.               
I knew I was focused outward with healing to do…          
But outward is backwards when healing’s concerned!   
Time is so patient, no reason to fret.                             
As I finally came back to the place where we met.     

And there I remembered all I once knew,  
 As my brush electrified my hand with hue!    
The breeze of betterment polished my soul,      
My visage now boasts fresh joy with no toll.      
Here we will stay ‘til this dream comes to end.      
My art is my love, my brush is my friend.

A desert oasis full of the willing came along for the ride as we rocketed to the moon on a one way trip I had WAY too much fun conducting. 

Andrew Kroma(https://soundcloud.com/bellhop-music) took the helm next and held the energy well into the AM.

WINTUUUUR INDIE FUUUUUUUUNK!!!!!

It's been many years since I've DJ'd a Space Cowboy's party so I was thrilled to be invited to play their most epic event of the year. I've heard stories about Breakfast of Champions, but had yet to attend. I DJ'd Sea of Dreams the night before and was surprised how many friends of mine were just laying low and getting sleep on NYE so they were fresh &amp; ready to rage at B.O.C. the next morning. When I arrived, the event had already reached capacity and the entire street was packed with dancing freaks! After getting my breakbeat on with Kapt'n Kirk out side, I went into Might and fulfilled another dream come true, played the main room on their legendary RLA sound system. A little more background on this week’s guest...
As long time North SF Bay native event producer and DJ, Zack Darling is well known as a highly effective mover and shaker. His DJ career spans over 20 years and began as a 14 year electro-punk DJ playing late night sessions on public and pirate radio stations in Mendo-fornia. He’s since dropped multi-genre-smackdown beats on night clubs and parties large and small, including Decadance, Space Cowboy’s Unimog, Mystic Beat Lounge’s Techno-Tribal Dance, as well as some of the biggest clubs and dance events in San Francisco, like 1015 Folsom, Temple, Sea of Dreams, Club Mighty, Kelly’s Mission Rock and many more. He also regularly plays within the festival circuit, including Burning Man, Burning Man Decompression Street Fair and Harmony Festival. Zack has played every year as a headliner at EarthDance Festival for a decade now, and in 2002 was the first electronic dance music DJ to play the main stage at Reggae on the River where he shocked the Humboldt rasta crowd with nu-skool ragga breaks. Musically Zack’s style is most difficult to classify as it spans a gamut broader than most dance floor DJs. His mixes are expressions of the alignment between Mashups and bass-heavy dance floor beats. Zack is moving forward into a style where he can follow all of his passions, old and new, merging Breakbeats, House, Dubstep and Mid-Tempo Hip Hop, with Reggae, New Wave, Folk, Funk, Soul and especially classic Rock favorites – remixed, retooled, repurposed for the dance floor. The emerging name for this unique musical flavor of bass-heavy dance floor bootlegs? Mashstep. Recently Zack launched the popular new website www.mashstep.com where fans of this sound explosion can saturate their spirits in bass-heavy dancefloor mashup wompers. Zack continues to feed the flames of the music community through his event production efforts. He is the lead producer of the Mystic Beat Lounge Techno-Tribal Dance, Associate Producer of Harmony Festival, North Bay Burning Man Regional Contact and co-founder of the cult-following nightclub event, Decadance. He produces many of the graphic art, posters and websites for the Northern California concert and festival industry via his Santa Rosa based company, Zack Darling Creative Associates which also serves as a central point for his event production endeavors.
