ڪجھ پيار ڪرڻ گهرجي

ڪو پھر حياتي جي
کيسي مان ڪجي چوري
درياه جي ڪناري تي
ڪا دير وڃي ٿوري
لھرن جون ٻڌي لاتيون
لھرن سان ڪجن باتيون
ڪا ڳالھ اڃي من جي
درياه سان سلڻ گھرجي
ڪجھ پيار ڪرڻ گهرجي
ڪجھ شعر لکڻ گھرجن 

ڪو پھر حياتي جو
جهنگلن ۾ وڃي گهمجي
۽ دل جي ٽاري تان
ڪي پل پکين جھڙا
بي چين ھوا وانگر
چنچل اکين جھڙا
پل پل ٿا اڏن جيڪر
پل پل ئي اڏڻ گھرجي
ڪجھ پيار ڪرڻ گهرجي
ڪجھ شعر لکڻ گھرجن 

ڪو پھر حياتي جو
صحرا سان وڃي ملجي
واري جي وڇاڻي تي
ڪا رات وڃي رھجي
ڀٽ ڀٽ جي سيني ۾
ڪو راز وڃي رکجي
ڪجھ ميگھ مندون ڏيئي
ڪا پياس وٺڻ گهرجي
ڪجھ پيار ڪرڻ گهرجي

خود ڏانهن به ورڻ گھرجي
پي ڪير رليو مون ۾
مان ڪنھن سان مليو آهيان

Nahi visaal mayassar to aarzoo hi sahi,

( If not a destination in my eyes, let there be the desire of thee
If we are not destined to meet, let there be the wish to see)....

Na tan mein khoon faraaham na ashq aankhon mein
Namaaz-e-shauq to waajib hai, be-wuzoo hi sahi

(So what if there is no blood in the body, nor a teardrop in the eyes,
The prayer of yearning will still be obligatory, impure as it may be ) ......

Kisi tarah to saje bazm maikade walon
Naahi jo baada-o-saagar to ha-o-hoo hi sahi

(The show must go on, and the tavern must rejoice,
If not with wine and clinking glass, with raccous noises and celebrations let it be )....

Gar intezaar kathin hai to jab talak ae-dil
Kisi ke vaada-e-farda ki guftagu hi sahi

(If it is so difficult, then as we wait,
Lets discuss the promises of another day, the promises still to keep. ).....

Dayaar-e-gair mein maharam agar nahi koi
To faiz zikr-e-vatan apne rubaruu hi sahi

(In this land of strangers, if you have is no friend,
Faiz, then, discuss with yourself, of things back home, and how everything would be. )......

می دانم کہ آخر چوں دمِ دیدار می رقصم
مگر نازم بایں ذوق کہ پیشِِ یار می رقصم
(How is it that at mere sight I am enraptured?
But it is only proper; it is for love I dance)

تو آں قاتل کہ از بہرِ تماشہ خون من ریزی
منم بسمل کہ زیرِ خنجرِ خونخوار می رقصم
(Such display may cause my killer to lust for my blood
And meek under the thirsty blade, I dance)

بیا جاناں تماشا کن کہ درانبوہ جانبازاں
بصد سامانِ رسوائی سرِ بازار می رقصمکہ 
(O life, see me amidst hordes of your fearless lovers
Shouldering my shame before their eyes, I dance)

منم عثمان مروندیؔ كہ یارِ شیخ منصورم
ملامت می کُند خلقِ و من بردار می رقصم
(For I am Usman of Marwand, apostle of Mansoor the Wise
Creation chides and condemns, and on the gallows, I dance.)
