This track has a long history. I wrote the bridge bit with the na-na-nas when I was around seventeen, in 2003, as part of a song I was working on called Teenage Rebel. The verse was written on my electric organ at some point between 2003 and 2006, and I'm fair certain both are nicked from somewhere, the bridge from Justin Timberlake or Prodigy, maybe, and the verse from a Mark Isham soundtrack... well, at least Isham was the vibe I was going for. Anyone interested in his soundtracks should watch his isolated-score full-length commentary for Blade, it really kicks ass.

The chorus was written on a new Hagström bass I bought in New York in spring of 2009. I was in love with it and strange songs like nothing I had ever written before just poured out of me into it, weird gypsy-garage rock with overtones of Queens Of The Stone Age, Stone Roses, Skunk Anansie and Guano Apes. I pieced the whole shebang together for my December 2009 session in my dad's studio.

The lyrics aren't really about anything special, just random crap that popped into my head about preferring to believe a lie you like to a truth that disgusts you. There's a paraphrase in them from a Yeats poem called The Faerie Child, the part about "the world" being "more full of weeping than you shall ever know."

I really hate the guitar solo. I guess I'm more cut out to be a rhythm guitarist. Props again to the amazing Leifur on drums, he really shines on this track.
