A Manchester stalwart who first emerged on Euphonique’s Subwoofah imprint way back in 2013, Epi’s strong-arm breakbeat signature has been a junglist’s staple long before the genre enjoyed its long-overdue renaissance. 

Hitting hard on labels such as Deep In The Jungle, Audio Addict, Nuusic, 24 Karat and Dutty Bass Audio, over the years he’s smothered us in uncompromising, hard-hitting tracks that always pay homage to the original jungle style. It’s a sound you can feel across this short but savage mix that embraces the foundation and plenty of upfront heat.

More recently his touch has been felt in other aspects of the movement as he’s launched his own mastering service. Working across the full electronic music spectrum helping people make their music sound the best it possibly can, Epicentre is always happy to share his knowledge…. And even happier to debunk false engineering myths.

For our third instalment, we welcome someone who, like many, started out his D&B journey by listening to pirate radio stations - Centerforce, Fantasy FM & Rush FM - between 89-91. After years of bedroom dj’ing and record collecting, DJ CHEF was asked to play at some of his favourite stations including the world famous KOOL FM with Dj Marly Marl on the renowned Metalheadz show, which unknowingly would then turn in to his current 12yr residency every Thursday. These days his fingers stay firmly in many proverbial pies, bringing fresh talent through the ranks using the BEAT ENFORCERS mantra. Alongside his weekly dj’ing outings, which these days include guesting on R1 & Rinse and playing at Renegade Hardware, he uses his keen ear to run Caution Recordings, which spawned releases from HLZ and a collaboration EP from Mc Fats. More recently, CHEF teamed up with the mighty MC GQ and EMCEE Recordings, giving the label a refresh and bringing through some very exciting new talent and pushing it forward with a strings of releases.

We’re very excited to welcome someone who is so heavy engrained in the London scene to the first FUNCTION:AL party on 7th April. And if this mix is anything to go by, its going to be a very special night.

Since 2015, SINE have been establishing themselves across London as a purveyor of quality drum and bass nights, putting on parties at venues such as Fabric, E1, Fire & Lightbox and many more. Teaming up with the likes of Dispatch Recordings, 31 Recordings and ProgRAM, the nights became a go-to for underground drum and bass rinse-outs in the capital, with a close-knit family feel and focus on vibes over everything else.

Over the last year, SINE have been on a journey, expanding the public’s perception of what they can offer to the scene. The beginning of 2020 saw the official launch of SINE Audio, the label arm to the SINE moniker, aiming to transfer the same quality-over-quantity ethos over from their club nights to the label’s output. 

Their sound shifts between the deeper, club-ready end of the spectrum, more experimental efforts, and smooth liquid vibes. SINE have been steadily building their arsenal for when clubs return to the fold, and are ready to fuse their original events expertise with the new label.
