We’re proud to welcome Azumai to the Weapon Audio camp. A producer who’s been making waves with his unique sound design and forward-thinking approach to drum & bass. With recent releases on labels like Vision, Critical and ProgRAM already under his belt, ‘Brutal’ marks his first outing with us and it sets the tone loud and clear.

This one does exactly what it says on the tin. ‘Brutal’ is a no-nonsense weapon engineered to rattle walls and twist heads.

The track opens with an eerie, cinematic intro, ghostlike textures and distant reverberations creeping in through the fog. But don’t get too comfortable…. As the tension builds, a cathedral of twisted choir harmonies erupts together with a monster reece...then come the squelchy bass stabs, chopped-up choirs, and the low-end pressure crushes everything in its path. Pure chaos, finely tuned for the clubs.

The result is one of the darkest, heaviest cuts in the catalogue to date.

I’ve always felt that the original “Dustup” by Noisia and The Upbeats had a strong wild west, Mexican standoff, gunslinger kind of vibe. This remix is my homage to that feeling, adding even more musicality inspired by Ennio Morricone’s classic scores. I’ve tried to bring a fresh 2025 retouch to enhance that timeless vibe, making it a special tribute to a track that resonates deeply with drum and bass fans of my generation.

In September 2023, Modefunk achieved 3rd place in the official Neonlight - Bullhead remix contest. His version was selected by Neonlight & Blackout Music and released for free download via their SoundCloud - a milestone that affirmed his sound within the global D&B scene.

Now in 2025, Modefunk is unleashing a wave of heavy releases. His debut Program / Shift on Sine Function Music set the tone - precise like a code, charged like a storm, and relentlessly driving forward. His first EP Nerdrage drops on Sinful Maze, featuring the collab track Ascent with Dezpot, while his track I Need More appears on the Hanzom Music New Blood Vol. 2 compilation. And this is only the beginning - even more is coming this fall.
