Lamine Cissokho - "Kora+1"

Senegalese kora master Lamine Cissokho have played kora all his life. This has led him all over the world and to many musical collaborations - he's been praised by leading kora players like Toumani Diabaté etc. 

Lamine is currently living in Sweden where he is constantly touring in different line-up's. Up 'til now he has released two previous solo albums. Full of great singing and rhythms- This is something else. 

In 2016 Lamine met up with producer (and Sing a song fighter label founder) Karl Jonas Winqvist. They were discussing a trip to Senegal.
Karl Jonas also asked to produce a solo album with Lamine:

Karl Jonas: "I think Lamine's kora playing is exceptional. So, I started to dream up this instrumental album where it's just Lamine and his kora and then let them meet another musician on every track. Like duets with no words. At the moments I was listening a lot to Charlie Haden's great album "closeness" which is instrumental duets with Alice Coltrane, Keith Jarrett etc...And Lamine liked the idea as much as me. So, I invited six of my favorite swedish musicians to let them meet Lamine and his kora one by one. We recorded the duets live in a great old studio in Stockholm during two long days. I was blown away. By Lamine's beautiful compositions and by all the involved musicians.
This album is a free flowing spirit and should rightfully put Lamine Cissokho on the map as one of the most exciting and brilliant kora players there is."

Under Maj månad så kommer Viktor Brobacke & djurkapellet tillsammans med Sing a song fighter och Uppsala Stadsteater bjuda på en exklusiv låtpremiär om dagen. Fram till den 28:e Maj för då är äntligen albumet ute (digitalt och på underbar 2-lp med utvik, låttexter mm). Så den fullspäckade 29-spårs (!) skivan kommer här alltså,dag för dag, att presenteras med ett spår i kronologisk ordning. Följ med på resan! Den 28:e Maj är vi framme.

Om albumet: Vintern 2020 skulle Uppsala stadsteater ha spelat familjeföreställningen "Barnen från Frostmofjället" med en "livs levande djurorkester" på scenen, ledd av allt i allo musikern Viktor Brobacke.

Till följd av pandemin så fick uppsättningen ställas in. Men regissören Kajsa Isakson och teaterorkestern bestämde sig för att den nyskrivna musiken skulle få leva vidare.

Tillsammans med karaktärerna från föreställningen, så har Viktor Brobacke och hans djurorkester nu skapat en dubbelvinyl med teatermusiken: "Viktor Brobacke & Djurkapellet lirar musiken ur Barnen från Frostmofjället" - Ett magnifikt och fullödigt (29 spår!) dubbelalbum som bjuder på spännande, vacker , rolig, sorglig, vild och tänkvärd musik för barn och vuxna i alla åldrar.

Or imagine Dj Shadow following up "Endtroducing" with an album full of great Nordic jazz samples instead of jazz and funk...The two tracks that makes up the whole album is collages of many brilliant fragments, bits and breaks.
