i made this when i was exhausted

i didn't close the project file for "walking home from school" until i finished both that song and this one. i originally was going to keep them just as one long track, but the mood and different sounds didn't feel right. and feeling bad is exhausting, so it felt right to have this be a separate continuation, if those two words can even go together

this song was started as a little kalimba loop i made. i didn't really think much of it at first, but the more i added to it, the more i started to love it. it's super similar to the intro to my first album, with the big buildup to something soft. i'm also just obsessed with making chord progressions of only 3 chords for some reason. idk maybe that makes it feel a little more ominous. once i decided what i wanted the theme of the album to be, proxima centauri felt like a good name because it's the closest star to us, yet it's still terrifyingly far away.

On the morning of August 16, 2025, 1,327 unique musicians and 73 unique visual artists began the countdown on an all-day endeavor to create. This time was different, however; aside from being the 10th installment of All Nighter, there would be no 11th installment the following year. this song has been in the works basically since day 1 of StormKloud. i've made loser 2 and loser 3, both of which i've posted, but i wanted "Loser" to be special. because of this, i waited until i felt confident enough in my production/singing ability to give a real, hearty try. glad it turned out the way it did.
