Yes! I love your and Roommate Glen's dynamic. It's especially fun hearing how off the cuff your dialog is and how many expletives you let fly. The Birdo sound effect gets such mileage with that. As for the name of the segment, how about Evocations? Also, yay! More Gayest Episode Ever episodes!

Wonderful to hear you and Glen bounce off one another in the realms of video game music! Wish I could think up a name for the concept of having a person guess the music emotion...usage...thing! Musical Meanings? Melody Musings? Or maybe something off beat like Conjuring Chords! :D Haha I digress, either way I like the concept :D. Also ahhhh looking forward to more Gayest Episode ever!

This week, I’m giving you an experiment, and you will decide if it becomes a regular feature on Singing Mountain. I play a little un-winnable, un-loseable game show with my roommate, Glen, in which I play music from video games he doesn’t know and he uses his base knowledge of VGM to guess what kind of scene, setting or genre the composition was supposed to evoke. Power Litany (With Special Guest Star My Roommate!!!)

“Lez Be Friends” (April 28, 1997): For a lot of ’80s kids, Amanda Bearse was one of the first gay people they ever heard about. And while Bearse came out in 1993, she got to put LGBT themes in the spotlight in a 1997 episode in which she plays both Marcy D’Arcy and her lesbian cousin, Mandy. It’s a product of its time, for sure, but at its heart is a fairly thoughtful depiction of a happy, function person who’s better off for having come out of the closet. Bonus points for Elaine Hendrix.

A Very Brady Christmas Is Gay Enough, Say Drew & Glen

For the 70th entry of the Honcho Podcast Series, we welcome LA-native @jake-muir. Fascinated by musical intimacy, Muir centers his work around the use of 'found sound', including field recordings, vinyl loops, and shortwave radio clips. These audio fragments are manipulated and welded together to further distance them from their original context. We thought a mix of soft, atmospheric tones would be a meditative way to begin the new year.

Homer Moves Into the Gayborhood

“Cousin Liz” (October 9, 1977) 

After two years and more than a few negative comments, Drew and Glen once again focus their gaze on All in the Family, a sitcom about America’s favorite ignoramus. This episode is a sweet and it is elegant, and it shows how readily Jean Stapleton’s Edith can accept that love between two women isn’t at all different from her love for her husband. There’s no B plot and only three characters, yet this is one of the best episodes GEE has reviewed so far.
