We also are honoring the life of John Elliott ‘00, who lost his life 25 years ago just after graduation to a drunk driver. The HERO campaign - which honors Elliott and raises awareness against drunk driving - will be partnering with Anne Arundel County (MD) police to wrap one of AA County’s squad cars in the HERO logo. The AA&F is proud to support the Elliott family and HERO campaign at the HERO event Aug 28th at noon at O’Laughlins restaurant in Arnold. Special Sing Second correspondent Emily Lucht brings us a special interview about HERO. Lastly, our amazing Alumni interview this week is with Cedric Williams ‘20, Founder and CEO of Blue Magnet. Bill Wagner joined Chris and John to interview Coach Carin Gabarra, Midn 1/C Mimi Abusham and NWS alums from the class of 2000 Michelle Melendez, Grace Kelly and Shannon Filbin. Also joining the ladies of 2000 was long-time friend of the Pod Erin Bailey '00 to discuss the class' return to Annapolis for their 25-year reunion. We break down the NWS season so far, what to expect the rest of the way and hear the advice from the Class of 2000 alums about how athletics and being part of a team at USNA shaped their future. Our interview this week is with Abby Boretto. Abby was just 15 months old when her father passed away on Sept. 23, 1972. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Henry N. Pilger '7 died in a helicopter crash over Grytoya Island, 200 miles above the Arctic Circle in northern Norway. In October 1993, a Norwegian doctor named Hans Krogstad discovered a gold ring with a blue star sapphire on Grytoya Island. Engraved with "Henry N. Pilger" and bearing the insignia of the U.S. Naval Academy, the ring led Krogstad to metal fragments and a green military glove, remnants of the helicopter crash 21 years earlier. We chat with alums, USNA staff and bring in Jeff Webb ‘95 at the end for some final thoughts on a great rivalry, a great game and an amazing tailgate for our alums. Colin Schofield does a little guest hosting in place of Bill Wagner. We made some predictions. Some came through (the under). Some didn’t (Navy covering). On Army Week Episode 3, we've reached humpday. We're joined by Bill Wagner of the Annapolis Capital and Mr Carroll wears his fancy 2020 Army-Navy game marble design hoodie to discuss the big game in more detail. On a day where more pro and college games are getting cancelled, including Ohio State vs Michigan, we talk to two prominent University Presidents - Ted Carter at University of Nebraska and Bob Caslen at University of South Carolina. Both were the Supes at Navy and West Point before getting their new jobs, and they join the pod about the challenges Covid has brought athletics, academics and administration at their new schools. They even tell some sea stories and make predictions.

We also talk to class of 89 Navy grad and current EVP of the USNA Alumni Association for Engagement, Craig Washington. Craig catches us up on what the Alumni Association has done to keep engagement up during these tough times and what Alumni can expect from them during the game.
