I extracted a part of the image and adjusted the colour and contrast. 
I then proceeded to create a sonic impression using a couple of sequences created in Pure Data, with contrasting, lightly pulsating blocks of sound and random, mainly percussive interjections.

Kaleidoscope (Marmalade cover)

T-Bone Walker famously said that, though the song was great, "St Louis Blues" just wasn't the blues. Disquiet Junto 0660 invited us to remix a 1923 public domain recording of that storied jazz standard. My remix takes Walker's stance and turns it up to 11.

Every sound in the song comes directly from some piece of the original recording. One of the percussion layers is even voiced by tape hiss. I cut the original recording into dozens of samples of different lengths, from a single beat to a full measure. The samples were then triggered by 6 tracks of a MIDI interpretation of "St Louis Blues". Essentially, the song is a recording of a song playing itself.

"Not Every Saint is Blue" has been determined safe for most stereophonic listening devices.

Step 1: Imagine a bicycle race underway. Picture two competitors in the lead, running neck and neck for a long distance.  Step 2: Record a piece of music in which two prominent musical elements align, one each, with the two bicyclists in Step 1. How would you depict their rivalry as it unfolds, the give and take as each bicyclist strains to pull ahead of the other?.

I picked up an abandoned idea from a month ago, an acoustic bass guitar (left) that goes up the whole neck and then down with delays giving this steady marching/running feel. On the right channel an acoustic guitar tries to keep pace, all the way up and down the neck too, or sort of. Most of the time it's the bass that leads the race.  think in the end the guitar makes it though.  

I may re visit this and make a longer version one day  I mixed the first half (one way up, pause, one way down) , after that there are lots of  editing to do and I'm afraid it will be boring in the end (I recorded 3 cycles, up-down).  

I recorded the bass and a first take on guitar  in august 2024 and most of the guitar today, 5/Sep/2024

Response to Disquiet Junto challenge 662.  The challenge requires 2 musical elements to represent cyclists in a race.  Violin and a quasi-French Horn sounding thing I found in Logic Pro are the ones used here.  Careful listening, generosity and a heavy dose of imagination should show you the two cyclists in line, one behind the other.  They exchange the lead twice as they go from left to right in your headphones.
