JADED CULTURE MIX

Today's premiere is an irresistible taste of Melbourne soul by upcoming vocalist Sunny Reyne.

Melbourne has been a fervent hotbed of talent for some time now, when it comes to forward thinking soul and jazz - not least of all giving us Hiatus Kaiyote, 30/70, Allysha Joy and Mildlife, just to name a few, so it isn't a complete surprise to discover another interesting artist break out to the wider world with chops and grooves worthy of our attention.

Beautifully crafted, rich and soulful, with stripped back instrumentation and a vocal delivery akin to the earthy sounds of Lianne La Havas, and compatriots Nai Palm and Allysha Joy, "Carefully" is the first single to be lifted from Sunny's forthcoming debut EP, produced by Lewis Moody, of 30/70 and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange.

Initially this was the beat I was the least happy with from the rhythm roulette video. Worked on it the most after the video and tweaked the flips slightly, worked a lot on the mix too to get it sounding smooth, and am defo a lot more happy with it now.

Tommy Brenneck is an American multi-instrumentalist, writer and record producer, perhaps best known as the founder and leader of Menahan Street Band, and core member of The Budos Band. Tom also produced renowned soul artist Charles Bradley, performed with the iconic Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, and has worked closely with Mark Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus. Brenneck is the founder of Dunham and Diamond West Records whose studio is based in Pasadena, CA.
