A unique producer and DJ out of the lively scene of Reykjavik, DJ Allskynz works in tandem with a few other names to push fresh underground sound out of the label [ NONYOBIZ Records ]. After hosting people like Echinoderm, Volruptus, and studying under the sound of new-age Jit, Acid, Rave, House, Dub Techno and Electro, the collective is thriving and looking for new outlets of fierce and exquisite sound.

 There is a shift that occurs when listening to the selections of DJ Allskynz, which takes the listener out of ordinary reality into a zone of pure play; it is quite obvious that the music is for fun, washing through the ears with new textures and rhythms frequently as the work unfolds. One can never quite know what to expect, which is part of the intrigue and fun of this style of chopping and spinning.

 “DJ Allskynz really doesn't have any grand message besides to enjoy all the diversity of life,” the artist shared briefly over a text interview. “First and foremost I think [my job] is to maintain a good party or a good vibe. Also DJs spread new, fresh culture and advance it.”

 “I have always listened to and been curious about music. I also started to make beats in Cubase and then moved to Ableton Live which is the program I still mainly use. My tastes started to develop heavily towards dubstep and UK bass music around 2010 and since then I've mainly been keen on techno, electro, house and all sorts of other weird electronic music.”

“A big challenge for me is to get ahead in the music industry and make a career out of it. All I really want is to make music and nothing else, but you don't get anywhere that way. So the plan is to network a lot, send a lot of ideas and demos to people and see what happens after that…"

A mix I recorded to commemorate our dear friend Árni Grétar, also known as Futuregrapher among other aliases, that passed away at the beginning of this year. All of the tracks in this mix were written and produced by him and it clearly shows how versatile of a producer he was, with his music spanning the scale from slow, soothing ambient drones to hasty drum and bass tempos.

Árni also held an important social role for the Icelandic electronic scene by organizing and being part of events and labels such as Weirdcore, Extreme Chill, Móatún, Intellitronic Bubble and many others. May you float on in ambient space, breakbeats and acid lines until eternity when we meet again brother..

The idea came after trying to put together in a mix some jams with flutes on them (basic, yeah!)... This lead me to add some synth-driven funk, and more groovy tunes, trying to keep a jazzy 'fil-rouge' during all the set.
