In so doing, Islands, Pt. 1 begins to tell the story of interconnectedness. It listens to the sea that separates the islands, and places the two as equals. From the vast to the microscopic, what sounds might be encountered in the space between us as human beings?

‘Voices’ is a new sound installation work created for a commission by Common Ground (working alongside Juneau Projects as part of 'Surroundings', a project by Invisible Dust in collaboration with Humber Museums Partnership, funded by Arts Council England). This installation, 'Voices', is featured alongside the work of five other selected U.K. artists as part of the Common Ground Art Trail, a public exhibition across various locations in North Lincolnshire which aims to highlight issues of biodiversity and wildlife conservation. 'Voices' is on show outside St Lawerence Church, Scunthorpe from 22/09/20 until 04/10/20.

‘Voices’ is an experimental sound work which combines distorted field recordings of birdsong with original vocal and multi-instrumental compositions. The environmental audio recordings were collected in response to the marked increase in the diversity and amount of birdsong experienced over lockdown. Lockdown facilitated an opportunity for deep listening and a more mindful engagement with nature; the thriving wildlife, in an environment less dominated by human activity, highlighted the impact of human interventions on the natural world. We must now question how we move forward after lockdown. This work, which juxtaposes industrial sounds and human voices with electronically manipulated birdsong and other environmental sounds, aims to highlight the decline in UK bird populations and the threat of extinction to many species caused by human interventions such as industrial scale intensive farming and the resulting loss of habitat diversity.

Voices

The Hague Songbook Exchange is an exchange of compositions between jazz musicians and producers from the electronic music scene. Release date for this double album is the 20st of november 2020.
The 1st CD of the double album will be the jazz interpretations, the 2nd CD will be the electronic remixes.

The Hague Songbook Exchange (Preview 2nd CD electronic mixes)

Richard Bishop is an experimental guitarist whose improvisations and compositions often reflect the shadow worlds of India, the Middle East, North Africa, and other points along the Gypsy trail. 

Richard is a founding member (along with brother Alan Bishop) of legendary ethnic-improv pioneers and underground tricksters Sun City Girls, (1981-2007)  who produced an extensive discography of over 50 full length albums, 20 one-hour cassettes, and a dozen 7” records. In the early 1980s he was also a member of the group Paris 1942 which included Alan Bishop, J. Akkari and former Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker. 

Richard released his first solo record in 1998 on John Fahey's Revenant label.

Richard was also a co-founder of the Sublime Frequencies label (with Alan Bishop & Hisham Mayet). The label, whose mission is dedicated to acquiring and releasing obscure sights and sounds from Africa, India, S.E. Asia and beyond, began in 2003 and currently has over 100 releases to its credit (www.sublimefrequencies.com)
