Based in Nagoya, YUDAI is a dedicated DJ and curator of heavy bass sounds, specializing in 140 and dubstep with precision and depth. As the host of “Nagoya Bass Lab” he crafts immersive bass experiences, blending DnB, garage, and 140 into dynamic sets that move crowds. Beyond his own performances, he’s a key supporter of international artists, helping to bridge Japan’s bass scene with the global underground.

Back in May, I uploaded an edit and a re-build of two of my favourite Grime instrumentals from the classic era; My Yout (by Ice Kid, Sickman, and Stylo G) and Ground Zero (by Wiley). I initially just made them as DJ tools for my own sets but thought other people might dig them too.

Jungle Rootz debuts on Albion Collective with his Catharsis EP. Built to shake foundations, it becomes the second instalment of the Albion Gold series and will be available on an extremely limited vinyl run as well as digitally. In keeping with the hand-crafted Albion Gold ethos, each of the 100 records will be hand-painted, numbered, stamped and gold embossed.
All three tracks deliver their weight in gold, but Pigment’s relentless evolution certifies its A-side status. The rolling wave of plasmic pressure lifts further into the petrol-soaked sky with each pulse.
Title track, Catharsis, opens up the B-side with a body-shoving, eyebrow-snarling bassline layered with this EP’s trademark plasmic energy that unleashes melodies as well as it does murkage.
Finally, like the ghosts who wander from the mist of Japan’s mountains, Yurei gains its power from the intangible negative space it creates. Effortlessly stripped-back, Jungle Rootz breaks all expectations with the age-old adage, less is more.
