STAMPS is a collection of small/micro musical fragments which Wailly and Jeff explore together. The idea came about when I considered my own relationship with postage and metal work stamps, a personal link to my dad and grandad. Stamps are instruments for creating a mark/pattern/impress and to me there is a similarity in the way composers attempt to use music as a self expressive mark on themselves, performers and an audience. Due to the nature of stamping from the same cutter, materials will inherently be slightly different each time and I wanted to create a process that would act in a similar way.
