Alpaca - Kiwi

Listen to Mix 05 from Aeyde Radio, curated by London-based DJ and illustrator Anu. With this mix, Anu taps into the yearning of early adolescence and says, “I immediately knew that I wanted to make something that felt grounding and calming.” Rife with field recordings, classical Indian tracks, and an appearance by Grizzly Bear—a nod to her teenage self—her grounded selections evoke the sincere, confessional feel of quickly scribbled diary entries. On a personal favorite from the playlist, ‘Bala Main Bairagan Hoongi’ from Ravi Shankar, Anu says, “This one sounds like home. The drums! (+ Jai Paul samples this in Str8 Outta Mumbai).”

With having a background in cultural anthropology, documentary photography and film, Phuong-Dan is active on a project-specific basis in various fields, as a dj and curator. In 2021 he initiated dispari – a label and platform for all kinds of auditory publications, collaborations and performances at various places such as Kunsthalle Münster, Kunstverein München or Meakusma Festival. His DJ-sets are a hypnotizing and compelling blend of rhythms and influences – consistently exploring varying moods by shifting back and forth between musical fields with some sort of defiant approach. A good example of the latter are the Gatto Musculoso nights he hosts at Golden Pudel Club in Hamburg since 2006, which through the years have seen artists of every shape and size. This openness led him to noted clubs like Salon des Amateurs, De School and Robert Johnson, to festivals like Dekmantel, Positive Education and Berlin Atonal – but also to institutions like Haus der Kunst Munich, Gropius Bau or Kunsthalle Vienna.
