Since summer won't come to us, here's a call for summer. 🌻 A 1h15 set including house, jazz, progressive, trance and acid. 🪩
Very happy to present this one! I've been wanting to do a house set for a long time, so I'm all the more excited to have done it in our cozy little nest. 👀

Call for Summer 🌻

Hailing from Belarus, and based in Hanoi, Vietnam, producer and DJ Mishouju treats us with a project from overseas, filled with his signature broken electro sounds and deep hypnotizing 4-on-the-floor style that locks you into the dancefloor. “Memphis Electronic Inc.” is an inspired adventure into different sounds and genres like house, breaks, electro, dub & techno that is centered on Mishouju’s favorite hip-hop tunes growing up, mostly Memphis hip-hop.

“Mishy Oi” starts us off with a cheeky reinterpretation of the New York hip hop classic “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, with Mishouju injecting his signature style to a very familiar sample, creating a suspenseful build-up and worthy payoff thus, further enhancing an already ubiquitous song into a banger worthy of a club. Next up, “They Done, Fxxked Up” is a breaky rendition of Memphis legends Three 6 Mafia’s “Yeah, They Done Fucked Up”, using all kinds of percussion into delivering a hypnotic head nodder. “Beton Boots” is an emotional track that gives us a sentimental feeling of nostalgia, even if you aren’t familiar with the sampled “Cement Shoes” by DJ Spanish Fly, another Memphis hip-hop originator. Completing the project is a powerful remix of “Beton Boots” by Italian artist Lucretio. Filled with a filthy acid bassline and a driving kick, this remix is sure to rock your socks off.

Amid the pulsating universe of electronic music, few duos return with as much charm, wit, and sheer musical mischief as The MFA. Composed of Alastair Douglas and Rhys Evans, the British duo broke ground in the early 2000s with their eclectic blend of Indie House, IDM, and genre-bending electronic sounds. After a lengthy hiatus, they made a triumphant return to the scene in 2021, much to the delight of long-time fans and a fresh wave of listeners. Known for their playful yet thought-provoking take on music and life, Alastair and Rhys have resumed creating tracks that reflect their roots in '90s and early '00s electronic music, all while pushing toward new, forward-thinking territory.

Their latest work, a remix of Utopia on UFC Records, encapsulates this philosophy perfectly. Dubbed the "‘94 On The Floor Remix", it’s a nostalgic reimagining that pays homage to the golden era of rave while recharging a classic track for modern audiences. By blending the raw energy of ‘90s rave with contemporary production techniques, they’ve crafted a track that bridges eras, serving as both a dance floor hit and a love letter to the sounds that shaped their musical identity.

We caught up with The MFA to discuss their creative process, reflections on electronic music’s evolution, and thoughts on the current club scene. True to form, they infused each answer with humor, humility, and a perspective that’s uniquely theirs—proving once again why their comeback is exactly what the electronic world needs.

MUSICA AUSTRALIS INCOGNITA -SERIES PT 1
This release is the first in a three-part series titled “Musica Australis Incognita” showcasing timeless and captivating contemporary electronic music from a new-generation of Australian producers. 

The series starts in Melbourne with Solar Suite’s solo debut (Escape Artist remixing) on the 16th of October. In early December, the spotlight moves to Sydney with another solo debutant, Point Guard at the controls with a PMA remix. Finally, in late January we see the return of DJ Life to the label with a fellow Melbournian Rudolf C on remix duties.

Let the antipodean adventure begin!
