The late, great J Dilla is rightfully celebrated as one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time. Almost exactly a decade after his 2006 death, Jay Dee's mother Ma Dukes is proud to present another celebration of her son's incredible life and legacy. The 2nd annual J Dilla Weekend festival will be held February 5th - 7th 2016 in the Wynwood section of Miami, FL. The inaugural J Dilla Weekend was a resounding success, and Ma Dukes looks forward to making it an annual tradition.

The initial artist lineup for 2016 has now been announced, with confirmed performances from DJ Premier, Slum Village, Royce 5'9", 9th Wonder, Blu & Exile, Rapsody, Chuck Strangers, A-F-R-O, and more. Additional artists will be announced as the event date approaches. In addition to performances from high-profile artists and DJs, J Dilla Weekend also features producer panels, BBQs, photo/art exhibits, record swaps, meet and greets, and other events celebrating Jay Dee's life and legacy.

"Fronted by long-time collaborators Françoise d’Argent and Benny Badge, “So Good To You” showcases an evolution for Silver Linings and the duo's signature Soul-Boogie sound.

Following their debut on Gulf Point with 2014’s “Sleepless”, Benny made the sketches for “So Good To You” during an extended pit-stop in Manchester, from which he returned with a sound palette affected heavily by the rainy city’s disposition for synthetically fused Jazz and electronic music.

Bolstered with session work by fellow Melbourne locals Harvey Sutherland (Keys, Drum Programming), Silentjay (Saxophone), Lachlan Peavey (Bass) and more, these drafts became an intricate production that would see elements of Soul, Fusion and Electro layered with classic R&B arrangements and production etiquette.

Describing the result of this unique ensemble can only be done by looking at its highlights. Moments such as “Start It Over” and the brooding “34th Floor” are an ode to UK Electro-Jazz; there’s the Sade-esque “Waiting For Your Love”; whilst “This Time” and “So Good To You” are a head-nod to Street Soul Legends Loose Ends and 52nd Street among others."

The self-proclaimed Renegade of Funk, DJ YNOT has established himself as one of Miami’s finest party rockers. For over a decade YNOT has refined  his skills whilst  unearthing new and old sounds alike. He has evolved from cutting and scratching records in his bedroom to bringing his record bag all over Florida and beyond.

His ability and dedication to the art form has led him to share the stage with everyone from hip hop legends the Wu-Tang Clan to  Britney Spears. YNOT has also played alongside other DJ luminaries such as A-Trak, Peanut Butter Wolf, Kenny Dope, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Questlove, Rich Medina, KON, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Cosmo Baker, and DJ Craze, to name a few. 

The last of a generation YNOT has carved a lane where technical skills and an appreciation for quality music are still accepted.  Looking forward he plans on taking listeners on a musical journey.  In the future YNOT will expand  with ever evolving new sounds and fly under the radar quietly making noise.
