Ain't No Good (But It's Good Enough For Me) is the latest single from SISTER COOKIE, a classic call & response duet, with Cookie’s powerful vocal delivery battling guest vocal foil Spencer Evoy.

It’s an anti- love song, inspired by a toxic relationship in Cookie’s past - the song’s title is taken from the unhappy couple’s final argument.

"I wrote this to track to have a word with myself about how I was feeling at the time - so that I never allow anyone to make me feel that way again.”

Musically, it's peak Cookie, defiant as she slings her words with verve over a strutting rhythm.

Having scooped the prestigious Record Store Day Unsigned 2020 award, her debut album ‘In The Blue Corner’ was released as a limited edition run on stunning turquoise vinyl in November 2021, ahead of a full physical and digital release which has now been announced as coming out via The Liquid Label on 6 May, including a new pressing on dusk blue coloured vinyl.

Accompanying the release, she will be embarking on her debut UK headline tour including a date at London’s MOTH Club on the day of album release, Fri 6 May.

“My drummer said, ‘You only get one chance to make your 
first album’ and I thought I better make it count then,”
Sister Cookie, singer, songwriter and piano player,
describes her mindset going in to record her debut album 
In The Blue Corner. 
And the results speak for themselves; pivoted towards 
blues, R&B and jazz, its 11 songs, all scribed by Cookie, 
tell her stories, mainly sad and sensitive ones, of 
struggle and hard times faced in and out of love. Her 
lyrics, direct and forceful, are delivered in that hungry 
voice of hers, heavy with experience and imbued with deep 
feeling then wrapped in soulful arrangements with gospel 
accentuated piano and gliding horn section. There are 
influences of course, you can hear hints of Lavern Baker 
and Dinah Washington, Nina Simone and Ruth Brown, but this 
album is cast in her own image.
“It’s Sister Cookie in sound form,” she says, “I’ve lived 
this record, put everything into it, all the emotions, 
everything that’s in my head. It’s my music, my life.”


Unafraid to wear musical roots but with her head firmly in 
the future, Sister Cookie has made a very special record 
indeed, one that illustrates the pillars of emotional life 
and is delivered with potency, empathy and a quiet 
authority.
