Welcome To The Jungle - Jungle Cakes B - Roll Mix

Back once again after a 2-year hiatus Red Lions performance from inside the Pyramid, at the 2022 Harvest Festival In Burks Falls, Ontario, Canada.  "I Dew Drops Cause I Mist You The Moist" is an all Drum & Bass mix that features some of Red Lions favourite tracks over the past few years, sprinkled as always with some Jungle classics.  A set built around fun, the dancefloor and a party atmosphere had the humidity high and bass lines low powered by the mighty 40hz Soundsystem.  

A festival that is dear to my heart and soul, I truly have missed you the most.  Hope you enjoy the set!

I met this weeks guest not very long ago in Tampa Florida at a very special rave for me. This was 30 years of V Recordings hosted by ANO dnb. For as long as I have loved V Recordings, I had never seen JJ Frost or Bryan Gee live. In all my years, it just never worked out. This was a bucket list event for me so to speak. Had to go no matter what. When I told our guest that I'd "see him there!", I Had no idea he was a friendly giant with dreadlocks. Tuesday night at Sun and Bass and I messaged Phil Tangent to ask if he wanted to get some food together. His reply: "Can't mate - just found out I'm playing first set tonight. Fancy going b2b?"
Ambra Night is my favourite club in the whole world. Of course I wanted to play the set! 

So it turns out that our first set as Philth Tangent happened at Sun and Bass. What a way to kick things off. But when we got to the Ambra Night 'Garden Stage' it was already starting to rain, and the sound engineers were taping plastic sheets to the table above the decks! It was pretty mad playing at the beginning of a storm. They actually had to close the stage 15 minutes after we finished. The engineers were covering the decks with the sheets as much as possible, which is pretty confusing when you're playing b2b on 3 decks. At one point the engineer had to wipe the rainwater off one of the decks - but it was still playing. Have a listen and see if you can spot it.

I've wanted to play at Ambra Night for years, and we were both really happy it was at Bailey's night, a man who has supported us both massively as we have built our careers. Big thanks to all of you guys who danced in torrential rain to watch our debut Philth Tangent set - the first of many!

Red Lion Presents - Check Out My Live Scream - Camp Calm Screaming Heads Set 2020

NOS, along with his late brother, Mark, formed the music production outfit Hidden Agenda, who released in the early Drum'n'Bass scene on many influential labels such as Metalheadz, Creative Source & Reinforced.

Following up the Dispatches trilogy on Metalheadz, Hidden Agenda started their own label, Dispatch Recordings, as a platform to release a second album and their own solo material as NOS (Jason) and Max Fresh (Mark). Initially aided by Ant TC1 on managerial duties, Ant TC1 now runs Dispatch Recordings to this day.

Jason stepped away from the music scene for a lot of years, started a family and settled into a 'proper' job, always expecting to keep producing and go back to it eventually. Following the death of his brother to cancer in 2016, and much self-examination consequently, he's making the return, in Mark's name as well as his own.

Jason has set up a Patreon for a direct link between himself and anyone who wants to join him on this journey back into drum and bass; if you become a patron, apart from his eternal gratitude, you will receive exclusive mixes, unreleased/exclusive tracks, early access and he will try to fulfil as many requests and suggestions for content thrown at him. Australian artist Sistym has a propensity for rumbling low-end soundscapes where the sub rattles your rib cage. Growing up in Perth, she discovered D&B through religiously buying releases from labels such as Hospital Records and Shogun Audio at the local music store. Quickly falling in love with the deeper side of the genre, this new fast paced hyperfocus led her to pick up DJing, eventually resulting in playing on lineups with Andy C, Break and Alix Perez amongst many more. 

Currently based in Melbourne, she is deeply involved in the city’s D&B community and is part of the roster for respected crew The Operatives. In 2023, she founded Midnight Request - an event brand focused on promoting local and international underground acts. 

Sistym’s fondness of moody atmospheres and textures in combination with technical drum breaks and rolling basslines won her a place in the 2023 Overview Music & Dynamics production mentorship. Currently locked deep in the studio, her upcoming debut solo releases have been signed and are ready to unleash.

Appearing at internationally renowned festivals such as Shambhala and Northern Bass as well as murking clubs across the UK and Europe, watch out for Sistym shelling down more dance floors around the globe soon.
