1646 sat down with Simon Wald Lasowski to discuss his exhibition He Saved The World From Harmony. But also to dive into our relationship to objects, joy, loss, grief, obsession and other aspects of the human condition.
With the exhibition, Wald-Lasowski invites the viewer to see the point where clutter becomes a collection, to regard objects as characters and for associations to be made freely. Keeping and holding on to things is a way of slowing down time, breaking the relentless pace of everyday life. The artist urges us to reflect, daydream and rest as an invitation to resist the frenzied capitalist rhythms. The tempo of this exhibition is determined by a monstrous patriarchal hourglass.

De mintjens noopten mij ertoe het woordenboek op te
pakken. En dat was een zeer lange tijd geleden dat uw zingmens het
woordenboek oppakte. De laatste keer was om een harde luid uit te delen aan een opdringerige fan. Ik zette hem achter op mijn Zundapp en reed ik hem naar Duitsland. Daar overhandigde ik de fan aan Frau Ursula Suppedresse en deze voorzag hem van een uit de tisch getrocken Hochzeit. Het war een groot schmutziges party in Herzogenrath.
