While Thought Remains WIP V01 Strings

Too much guitar arpeggio without pattern variation when experimenting with sounds. Too many instruments doing too many different things at the same time, too few volume variations between them. Piano improv work hasn't been completed - drops out the left hand first, then altogether, so the second half of the piece is missing something to accompany the guitar. Section around 3:42 where piano is discordant is left over from experimentation. Uploaded to preserve what I was hearing at the time.

While Thought Remains WIP V02 TooMuchAtOnce

Happier with this. Carries the idea of the melody well enough that I can move on to other things and come back to this later. Melody (that initial thump thump thump in G) will sound strange still; it is meant to be sung by deep voices, sort of a funeral hymn that still holds hope for the life to come. I'll have to do that separately.

In WIP v03 I tried fewer instruments at once, in sections instead of repeating the entire lot of baseline chords too many times. Most obviously, has not had much volume variation created for feeling by instruments, I find it to be missing a musical connection around two minutes in where violin needs a little something else to carry the emptiness after guitar arpeggio stops, guitar chords aren't six string complete, arpeggio could use actual variation, intro with piano carries it a little too long before guitar kicks in, outro with crystals might be a little too long as well.

Now includes the words behind the music. Spoken rather than sung since I haven't tried this before. Piece hasn't otherwise been changed since previous version, so previous criticisms still apply.

No dedicated soundroom here, so there's going to always be a great deal of background noise from birds and kids.

Unfinished. Experimenting with electric guitars. Rather challenging to get anything remotely like the sound of a real guitar - all I have is FL Slayer and very limited knowledge. Working on drums next. Bass line matches melody for each lyrics placement, marking individual syllables.

Scribbles in the Dust WIP V01 [Partial]

First experiments with drums and very first vocals (quiet to avoid waking kids, so poor singing technique and lack of tuning, yes) to give an impression of where it's going. Continuing experiments with electric guitar. Drums need variety, vocals need actual singer, many notes require volume adjustment. Still, marginally better than farting into the microphone insofar as prototypes go. All instruments effectively MIDI with samples.

Partially pitch shifted vocals to fix more than a few wrong notes but didn't get around to finishing it after recognizing that my voice isn't right for it.
