Stones Taro, who releases remarkable tracks from labels in Europe and Japan in these years, runs the label with Lomax and Pee.J Anderson.

While the third compilation album possesses the respect towards House music, which is their core genre, it also contains plenty of UK bass music taste with jungle and breaks.

Starting with the managing members, well known producers such as Paperkraft, blackglass G, and producers from Kyoto, Tokyo, Yamagata and up to Armenia, each of the talented producers who goes through the scene are expressing their current vibes in the album."

New York’s toucan sounds ready ‘Playground Compilation (Vol. 3)’, featuring Shifting Gears, Haruka Salt, John Barera, and more.

Comprising a mammoth seventeen tracks and being released exclusively on Bandcamp with all proceeds going directly to artists, toucan sounds’ ‘Playground Compilation (Vol. 3)’ compiles various sounds and genres from label regulars such as Haruka Salt, Shifting Gears, Toribio, as well as newcomers to the imprint John Barera, Laenz, Matt FX, and more.

The compilation aims to encapsulate the underground sound of New York City, with many of the tracks and contributors deeply rooted in its musical lifeblood. ’Same Ole Thang’ by Whatever, Girl aka Louie
“Balo” Guzman & Bill Coleman was pulled off a cassette from the mid-90s (remixed and remastered for today) while the two were releasing records on Strictly Rhythm and Eightball Records. All the way to the 2020s, with Love Letters, who has appeared on some of Brooklyn’s top underground labels like Mister Saturday Night, Allergy Season, and The Bunker. They all join toucan sounds for the first time alongside artists like fleet.dreams and Escaflowne, who often play b2b, and whose fantastic releases on Sorry Records have seen them pushed forward in the local Brooklyn scene.

Overall, from the hazy opening house jam ‘can’t stop the moment’ through to the washed-out electronica of derek muro’s ‘ramble3 (Balearic Dub)’, the compilation successful exemplifies the open-minded ethos of the label. By emphasizing a focus on the local talent forged at their YouYooCanWoo Studios, as well as artists from further afield, the compilation is an assured collection of exciting music from the wide-ranging friends and family of the fast-rising imprint.

Brooklyn’s toucan sounds are a label at the forefront of emerging sounds and artists. Curated by French Horn Rebellion out of the You Too Can Woo studios in New York, the imprint has been championing acts such as Haruka Salt, Toribio, Brandon Markell Holmes, and many more since its inception in 2019.

Straight out of Sligo, Ireland, Brame & Hamo have expertly produced some of the most effortless house music of the last few years. Following acclaimed releases on labels such as Dirt Crew and Heist, the duo now take full control with their debut release on a fresh, personal imprint, simply titled ‘Brame & Hamo’. 
B&H001, ‘Trants’, is a versatile three-tracker that expertly captures the light and shade of the duo’s production pallette. Opening the EP, title-track ‘Trants’ (say it aloud to trace the inspiration), provides a hugely satisfying denouement. Awash in a retro-futurist haze, flavours of early bleep techno, dusty drums and yes, outright trance flavours provide the ingredients for a euphoria-inducing trip that culminates in a melodic call to arms-in-the-air. Things get much tougher throughout ‘Hurt You’, which begins with an immediate strike of chunky percussion, jacking Chi-town rhythms and an unapologetically menacing organ line. As the requisite vocal sample delivers emotive threat, the mood only gets darker still, delivering something akin to an outsider house rendition of a lost Dance Mania cut. Finally, providing a soft landing with an early-doors on-the-floor heater, ‘Clarence’ lives up to it’s ‘Smooth Mix’ subtitle, as a lounging piano line gently gives way to vibrant sax and a soothing female vocal sample, while still maintaining a precise and irresistible groove for the club. Expanding seamlessly on their reputation as DJs and producers with an instinctive understanding of the genre, B&H001 is as soulful, tough and deeply satisfying of a house record as anything in Brame & Hamo’s already impressive musical repertoire. Corbi make his Kouncil Cuts debut, with the beautifully crafted ‘Decoy’ EP. 

Three cuts soaked with deep textures, smothered over grooves that walk the line between breaks, jungle and deep house.

“You Do It’ opens the EP with a flawless blend of melodic dream-like strings and pads against a rugged breaks sample, and warm bass hits that hook you into its groove from the beginning. A finely executed style that’s made Corbi’s an in-demand artist of late. 
“Left Of Centre” continues to prove the versatility of this EP as a crate essential. Nostalgic keys, underpinned by another rolling breaks cut and a climbing bassline that pulls you up and in. Building towards a sliding 303, you can feel yourself falling into it. The third and final track on the EP, 
“Corkscrew” flips the rhythm, with a grinding deep house flow that punches through the chest to soothe your soul. Sweeping Rhodes and plucking bass notes move through the track amongst finely cut vocals and percussion, culminating in a groove that makes it impossible to stand still.

Originally from Belfast, Chris McCormick aka @Cromby uprooted himself to another city that knows how to party: Berlin. In our '10 Best Irish House Anthems' feature, fellow Ireland-born DJ Sally C tipped Cromby's 'Psychoactive Strawberries', saying “I love mixing it for ages with the mids right up on other tracks, it sounds so fucking good.” Following a series of rave-fuelled belters on labels like Feel My Bicep and Unknown to the Unknown, Cromby has launched a new label: Potency Records, a new home for his own dancefloor-minded productions. 'Potency 001' arrives on October 16th, and teases ideas from the past and present at once: traditional acid house and techno templates are given a 2020 re-work. As well as the highly-sought-after 'Shake It', 'Ahhhh', which we're premiering below, finds Cromby experimenting with samples to create something expansive-sounding and hypnotic, leaving us begging for the chance to hear it on a proper system. Talking about Potency, Cromby said: "I wanted to start the label as a creative outlet for my own explorations between the realms of house, techno and acid, combining old school rhythms with new school flavours." Teaming up with illustrator and old friend Chris Martin for the label's artistic direction, he said to "expect plenty of larger than life trippy record sleeves!"

‘Speaking To My Niche’ leads, laying down crunchy breaks, classic rave stabs and a snaking bass groove before ‘3 & Extended CDJ Friendly Beat’ follows, shifting focus to a dynamic drum groove and gritty stab sequences alongside cinematic strings and distorted bass tones.

‘Law & Panic’ leads on the flip-side with hip house vocal chants, bumpy bass stabs, winding synth melodies and shuffled drums. Generation Waikiki then wraps things up with a swinging 909 groove, heady chords and an amalgamation of choppy sample throughout.

S3A - The Ravist EP - Community Center

Amsterdam Based Sjamsoedin has been around the electronic music scene for 20 years. He started producing with his first sampler in 1999 and has been experimenting with electronic instruments ever since. 
He has toured the world and released a multitude with several bands and projects, as a producer, dj or performer.

Around 2013 he started to build his own modular synth, which played a big part in sculpting the current Sjamsoedin sound, which ranges from dark electro and moody house to rave beats and rattling techno.

In 2019 DGTL Records released 'Never Know', a track emerging from a collab with De Sluwe Vos, which found its way into sets of Âme, Dixon, Job Jobse and many more. 
His latest EP 'Research', released on Marguarita Recordings, is out now.
