Southampton Jazz Workshop is a large Youth Jazz ensemble based in Southampton with players aged between 13 and 18. Formed in 2006 as a sister group to SYJO (Southampton Youth Jazz Orchestra), the band has gone from strength to strength. Highlights from 2012 include winning a main award and two student composition awards at the National Festival of Music For Youth and being selected to perform at the first UK Essentially Ellington programme at the Barbican alongside 10 other UK Youth Jazz Orchestras and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.
