Kristie MacDonald is an artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Her practice engages notions of the archive and the collection, as well as their roles in the evolving meanings and contextual histories of images and artifacts. She joined Skaftfell as an artist in residence for june 2017, where she was working on  a long term project, for which she is collecting envelopes sent from Pole Station Antarctica in 15th of December 1956 at 8 AM.

Mélodie Mousset (*1981 in About Dhabi) lives and works in Zurich.

Melodie Mousset’s work is oscillating between virtual and physical realms, focussing her investigation on the physicality of the human body and the potential virtuality of the mind. 
In Seyðisfjörður from May to July, the artist pursued  her explorations in the Icelandic context.

-- My work question the material and non-material envelope of the self - the elusive limit that defines « one » as an « indivisible entity » or what we call « an individual ». This includes an investigation of the biological body under the skin, the organs and cells, bacterias and on our external  extentions thanks to technological organs. At the same time, my work speculates on the individual as a member of larger bodies responding to large system logics.--

Elín Hansdóttir is an Icelandic artist based in Reykjavík & Berlin. Her site-specific installations focus on the viewer's experience of built landscapes through the manipulation of architectural forms, auditory elements, and optical play.

Skaftfell, based in Seyðisfjörður East Iceland, is a visual art center with the essential role of presenting, discoursing and encouraging the development of contemporary art. It is a meeting point for artists and locals and its activities are based upon exhibitions and events, alongside an international residency program and outreach program.
