Over the space of a year and a half, the four tunes that make up this release were produced as part of several sessions at the two Battery studios. Choosing to work together in person, rather than online, the vibe created by these three talented music teachers and producers carries through to the end result. With a hands-on, analogue hardware first approach, they capitalised on these dynamic interactions to keep the energy of each tune flowing.

The follow-up to last year's 'NQ State of Mind' mix project is headed by two of The North Quarter's most enduring artists: Redeyes and Fox. Mixtapes represent an important symbol of the formative years of many of the artists on this Amsterdam-based label and so it's only right that the tradition is continued by Redeyes and Fox, who both have a long history as music enthusiasts. Consisting solely of TNQ music - including 10 exclusives - this is NQ State of Mind, Vol 2.

  Throughout 31 tracks, mixed by 'smooth operator' Redeyes and backed with Fox's uplifting vocals, this is a journey through The North Quarter's five year catalogue. All artists that make the label the respected entity it is today are featured as well as some unexpected faces. The 10 exclusive tracks will be released on a 2x12” gatefold LP to accompany the mix.

Lenzman & Redeyes: two friends that connected through a shared world-view and love of jazz, soul and underground rap music. Now, well over a decade since their first collaboration, the duo is now set to release an extended project with ‘Wonder Years’. Building on the vibes from their recent efforts ‘Gotta Change’ and ‘Hold Tight Girl’, the EP sees the duo exploring a sound that temporarily abandons their usual melancholy, and draws inspiration from funked-out jungle grooves. There was never a game-plan, just two friends making music that reminded them of a time that could be called the Wonder Years.

Despite having only self released a couple of tunes through his Soundcloud to date, we are expecting big movements from Brighton-based producer Kin:etic. Essence is a crystal-clear liquid roller, with smooth vocal snippets and growling basslines that supply sheer driving energy through its four-minute duration. Kicking off the 25th Anniversary of CIA Records and also bringing in 2021 with
style and positivity is the always-versatile Zero T with his ‘MYWRLD EP’.
A firm favourite of the camp and an artist who has graced the label many times before, including his first artist album ‘Cheap Shots’ back in 2008, his ability to turn his hand to a wealth of styles is at once impressive and yet also inspiring.
The three tracks on the ‘MYWRLD EP’ instantly have a classic Zero T feel, with a wealth of classic Jungle and Hip Hop influences on show. They also highlight his ability to turn his hand to both retro and contemporary styles, with solid drum work of both ilks revealed here.
‘MY WRLD 4EVR’ is one for the floor with it’s rinsing breaks and chopped beats and is impressive in it’s nod to former times, and yet a totally modern feel. ‘One More Chance’ brings you right into 2021, musicality teamed with tight beats and fizzing bass, and the EP is closed out with ‘Radical Step’, a deep bassline roller tinged with that late night Jazz feel.
