Speed Racer is the long awaited complete collaboration between two of the Northern Territories most celebrated Hip Hop artists; SkankMC and Dan The Underdog. Skank & Underdog have had a successful year together, becoming dual award winners for Skank's song Northern TerrorStory, which was produced & recorded by Underdog. Northern TerrorStory was awarded the NT song of the year award for its genre and also received the publicly voted peoples choice award. 

After the Success at the NT Song of the Year awards, Skank and Underdog got together to create some music. Speed Racer is an eclectic track racing through various themes and topics, a stream of consciousness compiled between fast rhymes and a rollicking Underdog beat. Skank and Underdog first released Speed Racer at the sold out 'The Tongue' gig in Alice, earlier this year to an extremely welcoming crowd, which included Triple J’s own Dom Alessio. 

Speed Racer confirms that SkankMC and Dan The Underdog are producing world class Hip Hop. It is a testament to the work they are doing in such an isolated area and transcends any pre conception some may have of Central Australian music.

King of the Town (NT)

SkankMC & Babashake have released a HEAVY new promo track. After setting the task to their facebook family to help the SkankMC facebook page reach 2000 likes, the pair reached their milestone in a couple days and released a free track before their album 'The Long Road Ahead' is released. This track is hard hitting and sets aside a catchy chorus leaving over 3 minutes of heavy bass and smashing raps. EntrapmeNT will not be on the forthcoming album, nor does it resemble the albums musical and lyrical direction. The production on the track is "a bit of fun in the meantime" for Babashake while the boys are busy recording the demos', and in Skank's words it's "just to let em' know."

Skank & Shake - Road Trip Feat: Elsie Lange

In the middle of the country in Alice Springs, surrounded by the ancient and devastatingly beautiful Central Australian landscape, live two best mates: Skank & Shake.

Constantly creating and collaborating on new sounds, the duo have become the much-loved heroes of NT Hip Hop in Alice, Darwin and beyond. After sharing the stage with Aussie luminaries The Hilltop Hoods, they know full well that hard work and determination are crucial elements in becoming all that they can be. 

After the success of Skank’s debut EP I’m Only Hugh… Man, Skank & Shake set out together to create an LP, The Long Road Ahead. But they soon realised the pressures of existence can easily outweigh the dream. The LP loomed on the horizon, a monumental task awaiting to be tackled.

Months trickled by, they became a year and life eventually got in the way. A metaphorical road block appeared.

The Long Road Ahead grew longer, the twists and turns of life more dangerous and the rest stops few and far between.
It was the end of winter 2015, spring came and with the new season, everything began to change.

Skank & Shake decided that this form of self-expression does not have to be contained within a pre-determined structure; they unashamedly admitted that flowing into a saturated market is hard, especially when you're in the middle of the desert. Skank & Shake agreed that in order for them to stand out, it was imperative that they didn't fit in.

Thus, a new idea was born.

On April 9th, 2016, Skank & Shake will release their debut work: The Long Road Ahead: Part 1.
Seven songs selected from their inventory of emotion. Heart and soul strung throughout a soundscape directly influenced by their home, Alice Springs: the centre of creation.

Billed as an Australian first, Skank & Shake have decided not to contain their creativity into one LP, but to document their constant learning and growth through an album with no distinguishable finish.

Part 1 will be released in April, 2016. Followed closely by part 2 and so forth.
