Artist’s Statement — poly (the frame breaks)

we are the bird in the cage, and the birds on the wire.
we are the painting and the frame.

poly began as sound, but it became a question:
what happens when the Mona Lisa steps out of her frame?
the systems can’t handle it — they call it “inappropriate” —
but that’s what freedom looks like to an algorithm.

this song is that moment: the escape that doesn’t run away,
the awareness that the bars were music all along.
