was going through trials within my relationship at the time I wrote this. Sometimes if a victim of abuse hasn't healed, it can really have serious consequences on their ability to function properly. 
Even if they were to just run into/hear from their abuser, it can be so harmful and have unpredicted results. It's really hard to watch someone give up on something truly good for them just to go running back to trauma. 
Patience is what everybody needs. Patience & understanding. Understand that you may hurt, but so do they. Dating a victim of abuse requires patience, love and sacrifice. Don't push them away or give up, give them what they need to get through their problems.
