Minor Forms has created a steady reputation of late for blending deep atmospheric elements with a strong sense of musicality all backed up by a key knowledge of what works on the dancefloor. Strong recent releases on Sofa Sound & Flexout have led us to the pivotal point of CIA proudly releasing Minor Form’s debut LP ‘Room Two’. 

The title instantly puts the listener where Minor Forms wants them, throwing them back to his formative years spent in headsy Room 2s, soaking up the underground sounds of London in clubs and warehouses where his love for the atmospheric took hold. The album forms two halves, the first being an exploration of his sound as a solo producer, the second half sees him collab with close friends, formulating the experience of raving side by side in that smoked out second arena. This is an album that transports you to into that venue; dark, low ceilings, hoods up, caps down just vibing to the music. 

Kicking off with the rolling sounds of Original, perhaps the first tune you hear when you step in the club. You walk down the stairs into the basement and we are straight in, minimal, impactful, lets grab a drink and ride the wave. 

The title track Follows and engulfs you; ‘Room Two’ has huge driving subs that will pulse through any cavernous space, guaranteed to get a massive reaction while ‘Rushing Blind’ brings more of the same pounding, pulsating breaks that will make any main room or room 2 crew shock out until the lights come on. 

Any decent club needs a smoking area, or possibly the smoking area for Minor Forms means the back of the dance, back wall holding down the corner with your friends, this is the vibe you get from listening to ‘Tell You’; an unapologetic zoned out garage/breakbeat stepper showcasing Minor Forms versatility of a producer. 

Kathryn Brenna’s vocal shines on ‘Let go’, while CIA bosses Total Science, who themselves are no strangers to turning multiple room 2’s upside down over two decades of D&B contributions 
come with the pulsating ‘Close Call’, which also features Manchester’s rising star Kublai. This one thumps and wobbles in equal measure to devastating effect… Instant reload! 

In Room Two the selections get deeper on ‘Not Alone’ with Note; shoulder to shoulder atmospherics meeting driving expansive pads. The minimal stepper ‘Till close’ with Composite ends proceedings; the lights turn on, heads look up and the night is rounded off with a round of applause from the crowd. 

‘One More tune?’ Sorry security is not having it, but luckily you can rewind the album and go again. 

A real coming of age project for Minor Forms, an ode to his legacy whilst having one eye firmly on the future, we are excited to invite you all to Room Two, no egos, no VIP lanyards, just good music.

This one crosses over the boundaries bringing the funk on every level.
