In 1984, Nicholas Wyman, then 15 years old interviewed his Grandmother Helen Coombes about her experience as a mother and aircraft factory worker in London during WW2. The Blitz from was from September 1940 to May 1941 with bombing raids against London by Nazi Germany during the height of World War II. The raids caused enormous destruction and heavy civilian casualties with 43,000 British civilians killed and around 1 50,000 wounded.
