We're closing this year and enjoying the last new moon together with Spf 50. Originally from Stockholm - Sweden but now living in Brooklyn - NYC, he is the founder of professional music. A label which earlier this year released his debut ep 'signs of a city'. Sub-aquatic rollers only, spf 50’s music weaves a kaleidoscopic tapestry of offbeat house and techno, always with a hint to the submerged and groovy. His sets often lean heavily on off-kilter rhythms, rude basslines, and fuzzy but fun atmosphere. Stephan is also a resident of roaming new york parties Bob & Shirley and Believe You Me.

”Fjäder has developed a deep hypnotic enthralling sound of her own. Besides the devotion for the monotone vibe of techno, her palette ranges further. Inspired by the surroundings, she moves between black and doom metal influences to ambient, including features such as poetic elements, vocals, and field recordings. Regardless of genre, it is fascinating the way fjäder connects nature and technology. How she perceives vibrations in the universe and transforms them into new soundscapes by playing with frequencies, textures, layers, and filters. Through her music, Fjäder creates new dimensions and realities. "I had some technical and mental blockings during this phase. The wifi was out the whole day and our guest DJ had to cancel last minute, so we postponed the mix to a future date. As much as she wanted to do it, she followed her needs. The best thing to do when you´re feeling overwhelmed. 

Feeling overwhelmed or "busy" and mentally tired is common. To find that special balance for our body, mind, and soul seems like playing hide and seek most of the time. Luckily there are many different ways to feed the soul with energy.

The last days have been a bit of a mess for me as well. I was not ready to create a last-minute mix mentally, but I think it was good in the end and that it came out somehow the way “I want to feel” right now. That's why I'm mixing some ambient, downtempo, lo-fi beats, and favorite classics of mine that never get old and make me feel good and grounded. Hope it can make you feel this too."

"The systems that we see as ancient and immutable are often just the works of people like you and me making qualified guesses. For example in music theory, the frequency ratio of a perfect fifth chord is often referred to as 3:2 (or 1.5), but those are just-intonation intervals that sound grating outside the context of a specific scale. In the equal-tempered 12 tone tuning system, which is what the majority of instruments use today, a perfect fifth has a ratio of 27/12 or about 1.498.

I've been thinking a lot about that recently. 

Microtonality is the use of intervals smaller than the regular steps of semitones in the twelve-tone equal temperament tuning system. It's not by any means the most profound or complex concept in music theory, but as I learned more about microtones it recontextualized a lot of experiences I've had as a... person who is often adjacent to musical instruments I guess. Is this a dream?

For this mix, I wanted to showcase works that resonate with me, as well as works that push the envelope of musical "correctness". One of those works is a microtonal piece using a 22-tone equal temperament scale. Logic would dictate that the overlap between a 22 tone and 12 tone scale is close to non-existent, but as I was arranging this mix that transition caught me off guard by how... perfect it was. Is anyone out there?

Art can not be quantified or measured. The words we use to explain our surroundings are at best approximations of an idea of truth. According to the color theory, there is no such color as brown, it's just dark orange. The note you're looking for is between c and c sharp. Don't break the rules, just ignore them. A new moon rises. Can anyone be sure they're actually awake?"

"What's the sound of a feeling? 
This month has been a month of acceptance and pushing through hard work. Reaching goals can be tough, staying persistent, and focused all the way. To show up and follow through. It can feel heavy and be stressful, sometimes we fall, but we need to stand up again having deadlines or other tasks around the corner. One thing I've experienced recently is that when I try to accept and embrace my feelings during these times rather than judging them and putting thought to them - has been key to feel ok and push through tough times with a lot of pressure, either work or emotional. 

So I made this mix as an example of different moods that we can try to lean into, stay with and feel, notice your judgments, and just be with whatever emerges and breathe it through. Accept it with love, be kind to yourself, instead of turning away. When we stay it seem as there is no pain because we are not giving it a name, it just dissolves and flows into something new. Like this, we might be able to experience more peace even in those "unpeaceful" moments.

"I’ve always been thrown off by the obsession with change. It’s as though people truly believe in themselves so much that they define their lives by what they find to be an original thought. It’s not that I don’t believe in change or that I find it unnecessary, quite frankly I believe it’s always happening. It happens at different speeds, but always in a cycle. 

It’s been a rough time in the collective consciousness, (i.e. it’s politics, emotions, actions & all its equal and subsidiary parts) So the push for change has been in the forefront of many minds & hearts. With this, it’s very crucial to take time to regroup & be with oneself in order to help others. (You cannot invite someone over for dinner with an empty pantry.)

When I was making these songs and compiling them I took time to reflect on the many cycles I have jumped in and out of in my life. The idea of change has always brought me back to the idea of redefinition. 

With this, it isn’t that I’m looking to simply make a change and therefore something will cease to exist, but more redefine what exists, to acknowledge what it was before and my relationship to it & proceed to recharge it with the awareness of new eyes. I think this is how love is possible, dreams are accomplished, hate diminished, and empathy replenished. 

We will have to live with our traumas for the rest of our lives. This we cannot change. We can only redefine our relationship to it.  

I’ve taken some friend's songs, field recordings, found sounds, improvised jams, composed pieces, a remix, and a collaboration to reformulate my past, in hopes, to energize my possible future. When I experienced many of these sounds I was going through my own traumas & fears, hopes & interests, “pandemics & “beyond”, and tried to place them in a new light-a new day. 

I hope that when you sit and listen to this, you too can take an introverted moment to meditate and bring awareness to your own cycles. And maybe with the moon’s new cycle, move into a new awareness of things that may need acknowledgment and resolution.

"For Skinari Audio I’ve decided to introduce a new musical project of mine. I’ve been making music with other projects for a while now, at the same time I’ve been trying to re-discover my musical inner self. Searching for a new solid ground where I can let my self go.

We reveal the intense emotions, and once we gain knowledge of them, we bring it into the light. Letting anything that we’ve been holding in, come out to the surface. Celebrating the hard and the beautiful, and all variations in between.

Full moon with Joel Valousek

Joel Valousek is an upcoming producer from Stockholm, Sweden.
Inspired by other artists from primarily the Swedish underground scene, he has now put that inspiration to work not only in his DJ sets but in the studio as well. Joel is always aiming for underground vibes, in combination with deep and rhythmic melodies.

“The mix focuses on taking the listener on a journey through various electronic subgenres affecting techno, dub, melodic techno, and downtempo. The mix's subtle changes in pace and "events" creating its own energy to make the listener constantly climbing upwards."

"First of all thank you Fred Akir, my Manifestor Sister, for sparking the joy of creating this soundtrack of the 2021 February Full Moon. It’s been a while since I recorded a mix… and this time I asked our Mother Moon, how would you like to sound? 

And she simply said: a fine-tuned fierce female full of faith. 

Navigating through different styles of exquisite music (electronic, classical, acoustic, ambient) and a variety of BPM, I hereby present one of the most precious mixes I’ve ever dedicated my intelligence into. Like everything in life, this mission arrived at the perfect timing. As did the tunes, falling into my lap with a side note from the Moon telling me to integrate it with care into the setlist. Recorded on the Pioneer RX2, playing around with FX and loops, on a sunny Friday afternoon, for the first time sitting on the fluffy carpet grooving away with my AiAiAi headphones and a Full Moon on the rise...

In hope, we hope, but in faith, we know. Faith is sustainable knowingness. Faith and knowing that the spring is near, and all the seeds are about to pop up and roots grow oh so strong through the concrete’s hard-wired programmings.
