Following hot on the heels of his remix on our last release, we are extremely excited to announce Jay Tripwire returning to the label with his new EP ’Breathe’. This release sees Jay flexing his production skills on two lean originals, title track ‘Breathe’ and ‘Van Allen’.
‘Breathe’ takes a broken beat form full of tension through dissonant chord choices and sharp acidic arpeggiating sounds. A track full of punch, these elements drive the music forward creating a lively yet deep energy.

For its 22nd release, the fourth of the year, eclectic Paris-based label Coquelicot Records keeps on spreading its musical horizon with the arrival of a new artist to the family: Divagar, a duo DJ but curiously a solo project regarding production. Heavily influenced by his love for the 80s/90s Hip Hop drums, House and Techno from Detroit, and Disco Music, the forthcoming “Dub” EP showcases, through its four originals, what the Parisian producer is capable of. The interesting combination of his influences are translated into a retro-infused but fresh and vibrant sonority inasmuch as he manages to flirt, successfully, with many different an element and texture.

The track we were requested to premiere, “Retro Dub (New Dub Master)”, is that kind of theme whose genre is hard to define. Not that it matters, but knowing the most suitable pigeonhole of a tune sometimes makes our reviewing work easier. By any means, this is a hell of a tune, devoted to triggering old school dance moves on the dance floor with its groovy broken beats, funky rimshots, and its atmospheric – but ominous – synth layers.

The monthly 2-hour show is hosted by Peletronic. He is a versatile DJ from Vienna with a respectable pool of releases, available on both vinyl & digital. Furthermore, he is co-hosting his own events via Acid Lambada and is also a regular artist at Fortunea Records.

Coming from an artistic, well cultured background this reflects on his balanced curated journeys. Behind the decks or wherever he appears the upward trajectory of vibrant, drum scattered and explosive energy makes him a shining beacon. Now making moves in the underground world, Manikk is a resident at Savage Hanoi and Mirage. Representing MBE, ShapeShack and his own PULSE concept. We all know him, we all love him, its time to kick back and enjoy his "sticky_rice" in the Manikk-world.
