Carnian Pluvial Episode - Remix Edition

Some of the feedback I got for "Threes and Fours" is that it's too long. "Threes or Fours" solves this problem by splitting the 6/8 and 4/4 parts into two separate tracks (slightly edited), so you can now listen to "Threes" or "Fours" :-)

It started out with a melody in my head that kept me awake and I had to quickly put it into Ableton Note on my phone so my brain could finally give me permission to sleep. The original idea didn't survive - not even the melody - but its inception is what gave this track the name: Night Notes.

An important part of the creative process is knowing when to throw an idea away to make space for new growth. The result is this juicy groover.

We go back a long way, roughly a quarter of a century, and it was Acquit Records who took me on board first around the turn of the century, and again for my renaissance after more than a decade and a half of no musical output. I will be forever grateful for his support.

Samuel L Session is a techno DJ/producer from Sweden who founded the labels SLS and Cycle and now runs the Klap Klap imprint. Apart from that, he has released on Drumcode, Soma, Music Man and many other labels. Well known for his tribal techno earlier this century, he’s now going down a more minimal path, and his driving take on “There’s No Pink In The Rainbow” is no exception to that.

2023 Recap Mix

My first sonic contribution to the year 2024 is an attempt to capture the essence of this Southern Hemisphere Summer, reminiscent of a warm embrace once the clouds finally broke. May this glorious season keep its hold on us for a few more weeks, if not months!

Warm Embrace

The initial intention behind this track was to create a tool that allowed me to include some songs that are on a 6/8 or quarter triplets time signature in my DJ sets. I needed something to transition between 4/4 and 6/8 smoothly, in both directions. I soon realised that it's going to be a track in its own right and not just a tool, and the result is this morphing and hypnotic stomper.

Sam's passion for Techno/Electro began in 1996 when he purchased his first synthesizer. The following year, he ventured into DJing and made his mark with a release on Acquit Records in 2002 under the alias Arian Cerddor. In 2003, he co-founded Meadow Records.

After a long break from music due to relocating from Switzerland to New Zealand in 2009 and shifting priorities, Sam is back with Skonoks, his latest project. Get ready to experience the revitalised energy as Sam brings forth a fusion of melodic sweetness and pulsating drive.
