"Starting Over" (demo v2)

Made and played by me on August 16 and September 12, 2024, using sounds e.g. from Yamaha Montage 8 (TX816 Electric Piano), Keyscape (Roland MKS-20 EP sound), Arturia Jup-8 V and UVI SonicPass (Emulator II, Marcato Strings sound).

Edited a little on September 12, 2024 (changed melody a bit & added and modified some chords, added some chorus etc.). Mastered with Ozone 11 on September 12, 2024.

I'm also working on an instrumentalized version. Also, this song could maybe use some lyrics, and it is still something I have to look into. All comments would be more than welcome, especially regarding the melody (it seems that good melodies are pretty challenging to develop).

As two sources of inspiration here I could name Luis Miguel's versions of the songs "Toda una vida" (by the great Osvaldo Farrés) and "Ese momento" (by the great Armando Manzanero).

Starting Over (v2)

Hey…. Hope all is well with you. There’s a chill in the air, as a droughty summer says goodbye. I’m in the thick of it here, with autumn chores, mostly winterizing my home, and harvesting garden produce. Birds are migrating through, stopping to munch on berries and whatnot, before they wing away. A mountain lion has been cruising through the neighborhood lately. Heard an animal scream outside the other night, and figured it was a bunch of raccoons munching on the fallen apples, but who knows for sure? Well this is a dark song from my recollections of yesteryear. It is rough and unpolished (as usual), done on my ol’ acoustic guitar with some added homemade percussion. I must be old, so many friends have died over the years. I wrote this for a particular friend, Jim, who was someone I hung out with around half a century ago. Mark

A while back I viewed s/c as merely a hosting platform for posting on forums,but then I realised there was access to so many wonderful compositions by other folk,it then became my prime source of listening to music.
This little corner of the internet is actually a thriving musical community where nobodies such as myself can share songs with the great and the good.
All that just has to be positive and welcome.

Songs are a mix of solo work with all instruments played by myself,plus my own world weary vocals! I tend to favour my home made Telecasters and a Strat,though the odd acoustic makes an appearance. I use Logic Pro X and am a recent convert to DAW.

I play and write for the joy of expression and always with the hope my songs may be a positive force to anyone who takes time to listen. I'm an old boy now,so I harbour no dreams of success in the conventional sense,having the odd comment is just fine for me. Thanks to all who bother.

 Also earlier songs from a project in 2015, with Fiona and Martin Magill,Vocals and keys. Martin is a very talented working keyboard player,but sadly Fiona no longer sings. Our loss.
Lastly there are tracks from late 80s/early 90s from SOS,a band I was in back then.
