Hello there, 

I'm a solo artist doing my thing here in Grenoble. Started out on the guitar, but along the way, I got curious about other instruments like the piano, sitar, synthesizer—heck, even dipped my toes into electronic music during my travels. Spent a good number of years jamming in small groups, experimenting with everything from afrobeat to electro-folk. Released my first EP in 2022, drawing from the vibes of Nick Drake, Robert Wyatt, Nils Frahm, and Brian Eno.

After that, I got this itch to put together an album that kinda tells the story of my musical journey from the early days up to now. It's called 'Imaginary Journeys,' and it's dropping on December 8, 2023. It's not some grand thing; it's just my humble attempt to share a bit of my musical evolution. So, if you're up for a chill, eclectic ride through the soundscapes, give it a spin.

Reunion

'The Hearts of the Suns' is a progressive psychedelic rock piece inspired by themes from Genesis, Matching Mole, and Pink Floyd, particularly drawing influence from tracks like "Echoes," "Time," "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" and "One of These Days" - the collaborative work of the great Nick Mason. 

Infused with elements of jazz and big band music, Mason's innovative approach involved the use of acoustic drums (both single- and double-headed), tuned percussion, electronic drums, and Rototoms, seamlessly blending these diverse elements into a harmonious whole.

Mason's drumming style set him apart with a gentler and more laid-back approach compared to other progressive rock drummers of the time. "The Hearts of the Suns" serves as a tribute to his unique contributions and musical legacy.

The track's tunes are inspired from David Joseph Bohm, a prominent scientist, stands as one of the most influential theoretical physicists of the 20th century. His unconventional ideas left a lasting imprint on quantum theory, neuropsychology, and the philosophy of the mind. His profound insights fundamentally altered my perspective on life and death.

He once remarked, "The ability to perceive or think differently is more important than the knowledge gained. In some sense, man is a microcosm of the universe;  therefore, what man is, is a clue to the universe. We are enfolded in the universe." 
'The Hearts Of The Suns' is a sonic exploration echoing his profound views.

'Love on a Real Train' is a track by the electronic music group Tangerine Dream. It was originally composed as part of the soundtrack for the 1983 film "Risky Business," which starred Tom Cruise and Rebecca De Mornay. The soundtrack was primarily created by Tangerine Dream, known for their pioneering work in the electronic music genre.

This rendition manipulates the essence of the original song, reshaping it into a captivating electro-funk piece.

I love very much the original as the track is known for its evocative and emotive qualities, making it a notable piece in the context of both film scores and electronic music.

It's worth noting that the title and the music itself evoke a sense of movement and emotion, perhaps capturing the essence of a love story unfolding during a train journey. The track has gained recognition not only for its connection to the film but also for its standalone appeal as a piece of electronic music.

'And Suddenly You Were There' is a progressive composition which attempts to blend neo-classical and analog elements, taking inspiration from Hania Rani, Nils Frahm, and Peter Broderick and the blogwave. 

To some listeners, this piece may evoke a sense of whimsy and adventure, reminiscent of fairy tales and the world of Zelda. Others may find it chaotic or even overwhelming, but it is at least an honest attempt to create something original

'I Saw You In My Dream' opens Part III of 'Imaginary Journeys,' a series of ambient soundscapes that playfully explore the edges of genre. This ethereal ambient composition embarks on a captivating sonic voyage, seamlessly transitioning from neo-classical tranquility to the vibrant energy of hybrid art electronica. 

With a tasteful balance of binary and ternary rhythms, it harmoniously blends the luminescent warmth of neo-classical with the enigmatic allure of dark electronic elements. At its heart lies a deeply personal narrative – a musical representation of a dream where the artist glimpsed their future daughters before they were born.

In a one night dream of 2010, I had a dream, where I could see clearly, two little girls, one with blond hairs and blue eyes and one with brown hairs and brown eyes, holding their hands, and calling me.

At that time, I was studying Tibetan Bardos and the literature of life after death. In light of these circumstances, this dream resonated strongly : when I woke up, I sat for a long time in endless silence to write, on a piece of paper from the Baron Hotel in Aleppo in Syria, what I had dreamed and everything that came spontaneously to my mind, and what I remembered. 

As time flowed on, a few months later, my wife became pregnant. A year passed, and we welcomed a daughter with brown hair and brown eyes. Another year went by, and my wife was pregnant again. After nine months, we welcomed another daughter, this time with blonde hair and blue eyes. I had forgotten about my earlier dream, but one evening, while perusing the gaps in my library's books, fate intervened, and I stumbled upon the page where I had recorded those few notes. The memory of the dream came rushing back: "I Saw You In My Dream'.

I Saw You In My Dream

'Empty Words' marks the conclusion of the Part II of Imaginary Journeys.

Empty Words is an elusive soundscape story, fusing elements of electronic and ambient, in the moods of Ryuichi Sakamoto. It's an adaptation of a 'Popion's song, one of my favorite piano player, and reinterpreted into an imaginary soundtrack for the wonderful and enigmatic Shingo Tamagawa's anime, 'Puparia'.

In keeping with the spirit of the artistry of Tamagawa's craft, I dedicated quite a lot of time to conducting textures research for this cue, and exclusively employed analog and modular instruments, taking the necessary time to refine and craft intricate streams of sounds.

'Jardin Vauban' is a folk and vaporous story blending surrealist atmospheres, influenced by the works of William Blake, William Butler Yeats, and Henry Vaughan and a on poem of Apollinaire,  which revealed very early on an originality that freed him from any school of influence and formed the nucleus of the Surrealist group.

At the age of 23, I immersed myself in the world of poetry, becoming a fervent dreamer.

My mind was filled with poetry and daydreams, resonating with the melodies of Satie, Air, Zero 7 and so many others...and all the unconscious words of Guillaume Apollinaire, Baudelaire, Rimbaud,  Supervielle, Char, Tristan Tzara, Prévert and my dear Jim Harrison, all danced through my thoughts, intermingling with the essence of Lille and the enchanting Vauban Garden.

'Life' serves as a glimpse into Part II of 'Imaginary Journeys'.

'Life' is an immersive cinematic neo-classical composition that blends various influences, including the minimalist music of Steve Reich and Philip Glass, the atmospheres of Nils Frahm, the aesthetics of Japanese animation, and the experimental sounds of Terry Riley.  It is an intricate and evolving piece that tells the story of the joyful birth of my young brother in 1989.

The first section is characterized by a minimalist spirit in search of a voice and a steadily rising tension, while the second part opens up liberating and enveloping pathways.

Life

'Dreams' is a celebration of the Wattstax festival (often referred to as the "Black Woodstock"') and a time travel, with one foot in 2023 and the other in 1970s.

In 1972, within the heart of one of the most challenging neighborhoods in Los Angeles, a pivotal moment in the history of African-American music and communities unfolded with the Wattstax music festival.

Wattstax was a historic music festival and benefit concert that took place on August 20, 1972, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. Watts had gained notoriety in 1965 during the Watts Riots, and it remained a symbol of urban struggle and racial tension in the years that followed.

Wattstax festival emerged as a monumental convergence of both political and musical forces, featuring the foremost soul and funk musicians of that era. This historic day witnessed the gathering of over 100,000 people, making it a defining moment.

The event represented the profound potential for liberation through the medium of music. Jesse Louis Jackson, an American Baptist pastor, Freemason, and civil rights activist who had previously confronted the harsh realities of racial segregation, delivered an eloquent opening address that ignited a potent and emancipatory musical celebration.

'Dreams' pays heartfelt homage to this generation, combining elements of future funk and disco-rock to capture the spirit and significance of Wattstax.

At the age of 10, I listened to my first tapes on my portable cassette player. And at that time, when you lived in the countryside, discovering great music was rare and expensive.

My first tapes were like old blues, hip-hop and lo-fi crossing with my burgeoning imagination, harmoniously blending the sounds of the novel with the picturesque backdrop of nature – vast fields stretching to the horizon, the serene blue and grey skies of northern France, and the fragrant essence of tides, hops and wheat.

Freedom

'VHS 1980' blazes a trail in the Synthwave genre, deftly blending nostalgia, hazy drums, soaring guitars, and distorted synths, while subverting traditional song structures with abrupt transitions reminiscent of progressive rock.

In my early years, my parents possessed a treasure trove of cassettes and VHS tapes, a mysterious vault housing films, music, and video games. It was within this hyper-imaginative realm that my relationship with music first blossomed.
 
During the second phase in the 1980s, the infusion of potent rhythms and rock instrumentation added warmth and catchiness to the music. Synthesizers made their entrance, and the lyrics took on a more optimistic tone, delving into themes of romance, escapism, and the yearning for emancipation. "VHS 1980" is a multifaceted composition that pays homage to this glorious era.

"The Implicate Order of the Sea" is analog and modular generative piece of music, with no structure of its own, that even resonates with my dreams of reading David Bohm.

David Joseph Bohm was a scientist who has been described as one of the most significant theoretical physicists of the 20th century and who contributed unorthodox ideas to quantum theory, neuropsychology and the philosophy of mind.

The Implicate Order Of The Sea

"Unfolding Spirals" is a rather edgy offshoot of a spiral in a lighthouse on the Ile de Ré. 

This lighthouse it is at the end of the island, but in fact all the lighthouses and all the spirals are equal. So you might find a link to the deep symbolism of the Spiral archetype here.
