WOW.... What a crew. Stephen aka TexMex Shaman and guitarist and  Producer extraordinaire and responsible for the awesome artwork, Janine Levinson with a voice that melts my heart, Uziel who is so courageous in her exquisite creations, and Jo Richter(Sonic Structures and Silent Stretches) Poet laureate and Sonic Naturalist all teamed up to make this little poem of mine into an Amazing Song. Hard Six

Built around a recording of an alarm forming the audio background to a hospital visit. Musings on dementia.

Turbulent word streams, erratic coherence
Urgent meanings frustratingly mislaid
Inner sense to outer muddle [innocence]
Interface to inner struggle [in your face]
Fragmented paranoia, translucent target, floating beyond the grasp of balanced conscience
Unviolated nuance beyond interpretation
Disjointed intelligence, resentful agitation

Agitation

As  Christmas approaches, this feels like the right time to share this reworking of a traditional Sami Joik song (a form of chanted folk song from Lapland).
The vocalist is Inga Susanne Heatta, and the original unaccompanied chant was recorded in the early 1950's by Wolfgang Laade and Dieter Christensen . On hearing it for the first time I was struck by the beauty of the piece, which is described as "A welcome to the Lappish communities". I felt compelled to have a go at adding some accompaniment and hopefully it serves to enhance the soulful beauty of the original.
Like many indigenous populations, the Sami people have suffered hostility and discrimination from the wider communities of the countries where they live and we can only hope that appreciation and understanding will win out over prejudice in the long run.

Compassionate scale.
Each impulse results in a force. The more momentum we take, the higher we jump. When there is a misfortune, an impulse of greater or lesser strength is generated. Here is a personal scale of that compassionate strength.
Cs0 Compassion predisposed asleep We are not aware of the existence of a misfortune. There is no force.
Cs1 Instant Compassion. We have seen it on a newspaper page and we have turned the page. It has caught our attention.
Cs2 Indirect compassion. Donations to charities. A person assaults you in the street and asks you, do you want to be human? And you say how much money you do it for. It is instant, but voluntary.
Cs3 Daily Compassion The news of the day. Floods, wars, social injustices. Your ideals come to light. To each one by his side and based on close experiences with said news.
Cs4 Compassion live. You are present when a misfortune occurs, but it is not with you. A violent situation that left a big impression on you.
Cs5 Compassion known. Here we begin to exceed the limits. A friend tells us about the misfortune of his mother. We offer our humanity.
Cs6 Voluntary compassion. You are a volunteer. You offer hours of your life to others many times without knowing them.
Cs7 Compassion target. The bomb explodes in your house, in your family or in your friends. You do everything you can to help.
Cs8 Self-pity. Misfortune concerns you directly. Prevent you from drowning. It can be extraordinary and lead to overcoming or useless if you no longer believe in it.
Cs9 Total compassion. It is when you give yourself to others putting your life at stake. I am not talking about a soldier, I am talking about a missionary in Haiti who does not leave, even if they tell her to leave.

Truly an honor once again to feature Jorg Joerxworx on track.  He always seem to have the missing piece to the puzzle.  Recently sent him a request asking him to do his thing on this track, and man did he deliver. Jorg is a very talented musician who plays a variety of instruments, including the Tenor sax, which I was fortunate enough to have him grace this track with. Thank you Jorg!
