Disquiet Junto Project 0637: Right (2 of 3)
The Assignment: Record the second third of an eventual trio.

This years beginning was full of work and I missed 1/3. This time I did not want to miss the collaboration. I went with Daniels piece https://soundcloud.com/daniel-diaz/live-bass-soundscape-disquiet0636 simply because I liked it and I wanted to know what would come out if I tried it - if I would not like the outcome I would go on to another piece. I improvised a first track with a Hydrasynth Explorer. A second track is the rattling of a napkin ring with rattling shells on it, which I had bought in France just for this purpose. I went with my gut feeling until I had the feeling that I couldn't contribute any more. I always liked it in every step, probably because it's DDs. I think there is still room for a third person with something unusual.

Disquiet Junto Project 0680: Reverse Resolution
The Assignment: Finish something (musical) you started last year.

I remember when I started this one year ago I was sitting in a train and in love with Abletons "Operator" FM synth and a mutating sequence on loop. There was no bass at all, because I had bad simple earphones and in the train I was only able to hear the high bells.

Honestly, everytime I listened to it, I thought "This is enough, you don't need more, I like it how it is.", but at the same time I felt guilty, because it was very simple. That's why I never finished it.

To finish the track, I quickly added a bassdrumish sound with Puremagnetik Foomph and added some droney pads. Now I feel guilty again, really like a cheater, because it is still very simple, but now it's finished and I like it.

We're thrilled to welcome Joseph Valentino aka Neglect as our special guest this last weekend of October. Get ready for a sonic journey that swings from energetic highs to moody lows, a mix that takes you on a ride through different vibes.

Neglect is a southern california born, southern arizona based visual artist and musician whose ambient compositions focus on the sparse terrain of living in the desert and how sound translates an environment of wide spaces and harsh extremes. He has been recording and releasing music since 2005 and started mixing records in 1995. His work has appeared on the labels Boomarm Nation, Harmonic Ooze, Adventurous Music, and Shimmering Moods, aside from his own
digital imprint, Neglectsound.

About the mix he said:
"I think of a mix like creating a photo album, a collection of moments in time. Where i was when i heard this song, what year it was, the sense of a season
when i recorded the music, what was happening at that time in my life? Everything begins with one track and then the map starts to take shape. For this episode in particular, it was the sense of spirit in the Millsart track ' Yantra.' I can remember where i was living and the mood of the time when i bought this record in a shop, a feeling of that i can only describe as ancient hope, a timeless desire for discovery. I hope as you listen to this, you will hear a sound, a rhythmic loop, or a chord change that makes something inside you connect with that ancient hope, the curiosity for change."

Disquiet Junto Project 0729: Community Remix (Nina)
The Assignment: Rework a shared recording from over 100 years ago

A beautiful recording of a violoncello solo with orchestra from 105 years ago, written around 250 years ago. Just image all that. – I first separated the music from the background noise, continued working with a noise-reduced version, and stretched it in various ways. I selected some of my favourite parts and inserted them into an overall structure. Since most of the spirit of the original was lost in the process, I inserted my most favourite part several times, for example at the beginning and end. I added some of the separated background noise back in, giving it its own space over time and finally an opportunity to fade away.
