This is the demo track I made for the title sequence in the first episode of Infinity Train. I made this in October of 2016 in Reason, but Chrome Canyon expanded and elevated it with real analog synths for the final soundtrack. I pitched the storyboard to the first episode while playing this song and it helped convince Cartoon Network to greenlight the show!

Rahi Rumble more or less centers around the drums and the bass, with a variety of higher synth sounds and upper frequency motion to keep things fresh when listening.

A lot of the mixing was really just finding ways to pan the different sounds and instruments such that they didn't overlap. Since they come in and out pretty regularly, giving each sound its own place in the mix was an important task for clarity.

The Kontakt Library Damage 2 was used for the "epic" drums, and I can't recommend it enough. I think it's one of the best drum sample libraries you can get.

This track drew inspiration from a few places: the old Bionicle Power Pack music was a primary influence, as was the seven second "Nui Rama Drums" loop from Bionicle MNOG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXZWLu7Ob6o

Last, the break in the track was loosely inspired by the Gali Nuva exploration music from Bionicle the Game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aIilzp_7us - it gives the piece a chance to breathe.

Rahi Rumble - Combat 2 - Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui OST

A theme I made for Ko-Koro from Bionicle.

One of the most complicated pieces I've ever made. While the Ko-Koro region is meant to be an icy mountain, the village of Ko-Koro felt like it should feel vibrant and active by comparison. 

There is a vocal pad sound that comes in sometimes: that's actually my voice. I wanted to give it a more personal touch, so I took some voice samples and ran them through a vocoder, then delay and reverb. I am the canon Matoro voice now

The base of the song is in a Tibetan chanting sample that I found online. With a little reverb, it ended up being a great pad/background for everything else involved in the piece. I ended up blending taiko and tabla drums with some band-passed snares to get a nice crunch. Sort of like villagers walking on ice hmmmm

The main flute line is buoyed by some ice-y high strings and some high synths, with the end result showing the player that they've reached somewhere stable in the midst of a desolate mountain.
