At first I wanted to make a beat tape...I think I ended up doing a mix of lo-fi beats, Electronic, Kraftwerk and chiptunes. =)

The theme of this album are computers and things related to them.
I spent a good portion of my life with computers, gaming, making music, chatting, watching series or just wasting time...

After starting with the story of a typewriter that wants to be a computer, Konrad Zuse creates the "Elektronenhirne", which bring you fun and nostalgia with "38911 Basic Bytes free" and "Good old Amiga Days". 

While "Cryptocurreny Miner" relaxingly make your Bitcoins go up in smoke, "Kasparov`s Nemesis" is Deep Blue.

On from Track 7 "Cyberwar", we come to the serious stuff. War starts, the evil intelligences Colossus and Grim Reaper  try to exterminate mankind, an Artificial Hero saves the day, the bad "guys" get dumped in Agbogbloshie and the Peace Algorithm grants prosperity to mankind for all time.

This is my debut album. I started working on it in January 2019. Im making music since 1991. So it just took me 28 years to get past sidetracking, losing interest in a project, always starting new projects I never finish. I broke these chains, focused on this project and got it done.

My first computer was a C64...that was 1988 and I still love the blue startup screen with the blinking cursor...<3

I started making music on an Amiga 500 back in 1991 using a Soundtracker derivative called "DOC Tracker". It had 3 discs with samples, the first two were the legendary original sample discs ST-01 and ST-02. This track is an hommage to my happy times back then and honors Karsten Obarski, the creator of Soundtracker.

Inspired by the movie Colossus: The Forbin Project where the computer Colossus' draconian logic expands on its original nuclear defense directives to assume total control of the world and end all warfare for the good of mankind despite its creators' orders to stop...

I asked for a permission to use the original Colossus speech sampled from the movie, but it would have cost me...well a lot...=D

Instead I created my own lines of speech for Colossus, of course heavily based on the movies speech.

The Voice of Colossus

An artificial intelligence named Grim Reaper threatens mankind...

This track derived from an experiment I made. Can I be creative when tired and exhausted from the day? Also I added a randomly generated sound effect track as a background. To my surprise the outcome was quite good and later I realized, the track would fit into the album well.

So I put a lot of "good wakeful creative weekend time" into the song and created the Grim Reaper mastermind intelligence who soughts to end all human life...hear it roar while calculating evil things...

Grim Reaper A.I.

The artificial intelligences Colossus and Grim Reaper tried to exterminate mankind....from out of nowhere a mysterious Artificial Hero came...to save the day and mankind...defeating Colossus and Grim Reaper.

This track is based on a track I made back in 2004 for the Bünzli demoparty in Switzerland. It featured an embarrasing rap performance by me. =D
I removed that, slowed down the track to fit the album and piggybacked a new song onto the old base.

...when all seemed lost....an artificial hero came....to save the day....

Artificial Hero

Agbogbloshie, Africa, Ghana....hell on earth where old computers and tvs from our rich western world are scrapped for valuable materials under terrible health conditions.
The remains of Colossus and Grim Reaper have been dumped there and most likely your once beloved computer too.
Its illegal to export electronic waste....but nobody cares and the desperate poor people living and working there die young of cancer. The site is heavily polluted and contaminated.
With this song I want to execrate that practice. =(

I performed the bongo percussions on waste...empty sausage and chips cans.

The Artificial Hero came and saved the day (and mankind). It also gave the Peace Algorithm to humankind before it mysteriously disappeared.

That algorithm ensured peace and prosperity to humankind until the end of time. I wish it would be real....
