Sometimes referred to as natural tuning, I decided to make the switch after finding out that the Sun itself resonates within the same scale of frequencies, along with many traditional instruments including singing bowls and didgeridoos.

I am deeply grateful to release "Ganesha" for World Elephant Day, August 12th, a charity collaboration to raise funds and awareness for the protection our incredible, endangered pachyderm friends. 100% of all proceeds go directly to helping elephants via World Animal Protection US, an official partner in this release: www.Worldanimalprotection.us.org  

My brilliant friend, Indian illustrator Archan Nair (www.archann.net), created the all-original, beautiful depiction of Ganesha specifically for this project. The Hindu elephant god, Ganesha is widely revered as the remover of obstacles, the patron of arts, sciences, intellect and wisdom. 

The music itself centers around recordings of elephant vocalizations, pitched to the key of the track, elephant footsteps timed to the beat, and three Ganesha mantras, provided by @SriKaloGY, with additional vocals by Laura Fay Lewis and Alokananda Walla. Fellow producer @PERICLES provided many of the percussive and bass sounds to draw from as well. A background field recording of African savannah runs throughout the entire track. 

Downloads include two additional songs; an ambient piece titled "Deep Time" that spans over 10 minutes, intended for contemplation and meditation, and a hidden instrumental edit of "Ganesha", included exclusively in the download version. 

In 2012 alone, an estimated 15,000 African elephants perished due to poaching for ivory, a material which could easily be replaced by more sustainable sources to create carvings, art and products. This project is meant to show how we can still create beautiful works inspired by these magnificent beings, in ways that do not endanger or harm them, but instead provide the help and support they need so much at this time.

Inspired by recent understanding of dinosaurs' striking similarity to modern birds, this recording consists of several large bird species pitched down multiple octaves, slowed, convoluted and harmonized to replicate what dinosaurs may have genuinely sounded like in the flesh, millions of years ago.  Such giant creatures would undoubtedly have been capable of generating incredible bass or infrasound, even lower than some large birds that still live today.  A field recording of a forest by my friend Luke Hazard from West Virginia has been mixed underneath throughout to join the sounds together with continuous ambience, as a montaged menagerie of species may have sounded in the far distant past.  Created in Ableton Live.
