Oko (known as Oco in Latin America) is an Orisha in Torubaland of Nigeria and Benin Republic. He is a strong hunter as well as a fighter against sorcery. He is associated with the annual new harvest of the white African yam. Among the deities he is considered a close friend of Oosa Ogiyan and Sango as well as at one time husband of Oya and Yemoja. CRISTIAN MONAK, FELIPE GRANDA, MAARLEM and ALVARO VILDOSOLA are paying their respects to Oko with four great original tracks inspired by the Orisha.

Youniboy - Warrior Path

This mix is based on two different concepts - the birdsongs and the tribes living in the Amazon. The first idea is executed by selecting numerous tracks from the outstanding compilations by Shika Shika record label in which Latin American artists use recordings of endangered bird species. The second idea made me think of Shipibo Conibo Xetebo community which I got to know thanks to the latest Behua Icara compilation and the Huni Kuin people which I found out about on the 2018's release by Dengue Dengue Dengue.
